I personally find the common event banners (Halloween, N7 day, Corsair) to be even worse than someone that doesn't have any banner. I have my reasons.

I judge by many criteria. Banner, N7 rank, weapons, and challenge points are all excellent indicators. Bonus points to people that actually use consumables.

Obviously I judge. So does everyone else. You can't seriously tell me that if you're hosting a game, and someone that is N7 8000 and Best of the Best banner comes into your game, that you aren't eager to play with them.

It's cute when I join a PUG, and all three of the other fellas ready up after approximately three seconds. More than enough time to be checking me out as if I were a piece of meat. You dirty animals make me horny.

I do not want to brag but sometimes somebody like me comes to the party and wrecks comboing incinerate and arc nades and using harrier without any consumables.

Doing good on gold ( platinum... yeah, use consumables there ) doesn't mean using consumables nor having big n7 rank.

I've learned not to judge. I have seen 10k's getting wrecked on 1st wave. I have seen guys with god knows what titles getting hammered by two husks and one maruder. I was getting kicked plenty of times cause it did not wanted to waste consumables on a match. Sometimes I was accused of cheating cause I scored top with no consumables.
I say, do not judge. I understand if You kick guy with rank 10 on gold - cause that's riddiculous. But the rest?
You are playing with randoms anyway. What does it matter? Some matches will go good, some wrong.

I use Hallowed Hero. I like it. I do not have much titles anyway cause I do not have much time to play.

Do not get arogant.

I purposefully don't use a banner. I have no reason to. If I'm pugging Gold/Plat I usually only use kits that are pretty well established. Consumables are an optional thing for me, if I'm using something I'm really great with I don't find it necessary (for me a GI with a BW/Javelin doesn't even NEED consumables to wreck face). Either way, I let my playing speak for itself. If someone boots me because I don't have a banner, their loss.

Clicking on the active banner should deactivate it. It works for me.

I really think at this point,
having absolutely no banner in Gold/Plat just shows that
the player has not spent enough time in Bronze/Silver to be really ready for the upper difficulties.

I know some will say..
I just came back to MP after months and I don`t have banner.
...yeah.. I am not really talking about you here...

I think this part right here sums up your disregard for other players. Some people are fairly good at this game and choose not to show a banner for whatever reason. Some have taken a leave of absence for whatever reason, be it personal, wanting to play other games, had school, etc. I myself only recently got my Street Sweeper Banner. I've had the game since the midnight release. If you really wish to judge people based off of a background picture in a video game then you should find three people with the same mindset and only play with yourselves. The rest of the Mass Effect Community will not miss your biased views on player skills.

And if you believe to try and counter my argument with, "Well what about the event banners?" I will respond with, "What about them?" The N7 banner was a one time thing as was the halloween banner. The Corsair banner was based off of a players use of biotics if I'm not mistaken. I have both the N7 and Corsair banner but like some people I had better things to do with my life then play Mass Effect 3 on Halloween to earn a silly background to use in a vain attempt to prove I'm good at a game.

Now I will say this. When I started this game I used to judge people based off of their N7 score. I matured and stopped judging the proverbial book by it's cover. You might do well to learn from that.

The banners aren't retroactive, most require no actual skill, etcetra.

Add Banner snobs being the new N7 snobs and I couldn't care less about banners.

When I don't see banners in a gold lobby, my first thought is "time to look at their weapons and classes!" Incidentally, that's my first thought for people with banners as well.

Since the release of Retaliation DLC..
We`ve had enough time for multiple players to achieve the BoB banner.

I`ve just got dropped in a lobby with 3 bannerless players readied up for a gold game,
and it sure felt differenct compared to lobby filled with 3 players with cool banners.
(Kinda gimme instant feeling of Meh)

There are very very few players who choose not to wear any banner on purpose,
but most of player who don`t show banners simply don`t have them.

I really think at this point,

No. I only look at their overall setup.

I didn't wear a banner until the consair one. Never grinded anything nor liked most of those banners. But I have a maxed manifest.

Although I expected,

many of you are just saying "Oh Banner don`t matter how you perform in the game"
Yes, everybody knows that.

I am talking about players who don`t choose not to wear banner, but simply having no banner due to the lack of experience/time spent.
Which is completely fine, except that they are trying to play Gold/Plat.
Actually, this is fine too because I don`t care that much how one performs in the game.

but many bannerless players end up doing bad in Gold/Plat game.
I am not going to dicriminate them for it, but it will tell me I should gear up before the game starts even if they have fairly good equipments..
(because you had 2 months to get banner)

I have been playing since then, and mostly playing gold with alot of success, and I don't have a banner....mostly because I have been just doing matches without attempting to go for any particular chalanges to unlock specific banners.

That's just it. I'd be as leery as hell if such a person came into the group. See, those things don't mean a good player, just a player with a lot of time on their hands; And that's not essentially a good quality. It means that what we often get is a socially isolated player with a humongous ego. Kind of like the Doctor from season 1 of Voyager, before he learned what it meant to be a decent person.

To be honest, I'd rather take some chatty newbies who love to have fun. Even if I have to pull the group through, which I do every now and then! It's not often, but you know what? I don't care. If they're friendly, I couldn't care less. So that's that. But if we have some egotistical armchair general who's telling everyone how he thinks they should play, then that guy's going to get kicked, and his banner will count for naught.

That's the problem of people with titles. They think they're at the top of their game with no room for improvement. Now, if I see a person doing well in a game, and doing well because they're honest to goodness just that good? Then I'll thank them for the privilege of letting me fight alongside them.

I guess this is the difference in mindsets.

Some people think that spending 24/7 for eight years or something in a game means something. To me, having a successful life, maybe a partner, a happy home (regardless of orientation), an open and creative mind, and a friendly and charismatic personality... well, those things mean something. And if they're a good gamer on top of that? That's just the icing on the cake. The banner often comes with a potty mouth, keep that in mind.
