Good day everyone,

Just to preclude this: I realise what this project does departs a good deal from what
quite a few of you may see as established “canon” as far as tastes and
preferences of certain characters are concerned. I do not intend this to be a debate
about why such are perfectly justified or not. What I am primarily concerned
with here is the possibility of actually making this a reality for people that
so want to see such in their game – you don’t want it, don’t download  or just skip this topic altogether.

Recently, I decided to try and adjust a non-intended LI-combination from ME1 within the
game that, ironically enough, up until ME3 worked quite smoothly: namely, Femshep and Miss Williams.

The one interaction in ME2 that was added may not work – the comment to Joker about
meeting Ms Williams again is simply muted – yet it was not much of a problem as it was merely one single line.

Come ME3, this is a far worse problem, actually.

Right now, I do not know how to “voice” those lines, which make up a majority of the interaction between the two, so it is something that will have to be tolerated for the time being. What gets somewhat more so in the way of enjoying this modified content, carrying a relationship of Femshep established with Williams
from ME1 through the trilogy, is the VO sometimes shifting to Meer’s in ME3.

While not perfect, I got at least as far as the following:

And more recent one can be viewed here:

As can be observed, transitions to Meer's VO, at least, are avoided. There may be more fitting lines for Femshep that better fit the circumstance. Of course, one could even go so far as to remake certain dialogues where no feasible alternative can be found, audio-import does allow for that as well. For now, a DL of the result of my current efforts to work this out for this particular romance can be found here:

http://social.biowar...m/project/8630/

What this approach furthermore means, though, is that it does alter the dialogue-files of Romances, as it is a matter of replacing original files with the modded ones; to restore the old Romance-dialogue for your Sheploos, in this case, I recommend making backups of said files prior to installation. Using Gibbed’s save-game editor is also mandatory for this to work, download can be found here:

http://www.moddb.com...-3-save-editor1

And instructions here:

http://social.biowar...ndex/10759911/1

Note that locking the romance in this way prior to meeting Williams on the Citadel following the coup is required for the romance-flag to be registered in said meeting.

Regarding further removal of gender-locks on romances, user HJF4 took up that task for romances
for ME3 a while ago, results of which can be found here:

http://social.biowar...ndex/16000660/1

I have had a look at most Romance-related content with Williams with this in place, excepting the memorial-interrupt which appears to be voiced by Hale anyway, far as I am informed. Excepting the already mentioned general problems, this appears to work thus far.

2nd Edit: checked the memorial-on-Citadel scene, and it works smoothly with the romance locked-in for Ashley via Gibbed.

*PS: I have barely tapped into the ME2-files yet, may try and compile them though as I move along, see whether anything can be used within reason. For now, ME3 already offers quite fitting alternatives to Meer’s VO, actually.

EDIT: Forgot about the forums being allergic to simply copying text from Word, hopefully fixed format now.

Always wanted to do a renegade Femshep with Ashley. Things might move slowly getting stuff to work but good on you for getting the ball rolling!

Glad I opened up the alley to that. At least partially. ^_^

One thing to note: the PCConsoleTOC-file I used to work with is the one provided by MEHEM. I'll try and modify the vanilla-file for all those that wish to roll without MEHEM. Sorry for that oversight. :pinched:

Edit: Apparently, only step needed to make it work is to run ME3Explorer and update said file. If you haven't got MEHEM, simply do not replace your PCConsoleTOC-file and use that.

DL for ME3Ex is found here - size is fairly small:

http://sourceforge.n...files/Versions/

Link to the tutorial on how  to do it can be found in the install-instructions, it is fairly simple.

Great project, thanks for uploading your files.

I haven't ever actually even done the Ashley romance with any of my characters, now that I think about it...

Try it with Femshep in ME1. Making that work is actually fairly easy, and you have certainly missed out on something there...^_^

I love this. I want to romance Ash with one of my FemSheps but haven't had the chance (and wasn't entirely motivated since if I edit my savegame for ME3, a huge amount of the lines are missing).

Hope this goes well and I appreciate your effort! :)

Speaking about romance dialogue. Is it possible to fix some of those:

That is one of the general problems I was talking about that yet lack a way to be fixed on our own.

Until a way is figured out how to alter hard-coded time-lengths of dialogue-lines, this will have to remain as is, I'm afraid.

Concerning the Commons-scene with Femshep: it is one of those that, sadly, remain utterly silent for her, same as the hospital scene after Williams is awake, so right now there is no way to adjust it. At least with this one, the dialogue works standard as far as the dialogue-choice, and smoothly when the non-romance route is chosen.

Minor update:

As I edited in the OP, I just tested the memorial-scene on the Citadel with the romance locked in, and, as has been confirmed elsewhere, that works smoothly, interrupt and all - putting into question why it was cut for Femshep even though it is not pivotal to the romance-plot, but anyway...

You may have noticed that, in the recording, some oddities with lip-synch abound following the selection of the lower option, in that case. I thought I could have dismissed that as a random occurence, but it seems to be persistent ever since the insertion of the "Been ready"-line. Both audio-files used there are a deal shorter than those of Sheploo, so exactly why it would act that way is somewhat beyond me. Especially the line following this - indended to be "We'll win - that's a promise" with shortened pause between - still being cut in spite of being not as lengthy as the original line of Sheploo has me scratching my head.

That aside, I would have a question: would the key to adjusting this, dialogue-timing et al, lie in the "Node_Data_Sequence"? I have merely had a look at those and not even dared touch them beyond that, but any heads-up as to how this particular section interacts with the rest, if at all, and how it could be altered within reason would be very much welcome.

Another - belated - update:

I realise that I have put this project here on the backburner, wanted to get back at it again just now.
However, for some odd reason, the modified files do not work at all anymore in-game now, although I really cannot fathom just why that is so. Cutscene plays out just "fine", but lip-sync is gone as is audio, and the game shows up as not responding in task-manager.

I'll try and reroll the whole thing, see just exactly what went wrong along the way. Meanwhile, did some of those of you who got the uploaded file get the same problem? If so, I'll take it off for the time being.

Well, back at it again, at last...

As you may notice, I have taken off the original file for the time being. Whatever messed it up in the first place appears to be permanent with those old files. My guess is I screwed around a bit too much using one step too many to
convert, cut and re-convert the audio-files I used previously, resulting in excessive file-size compared to the vanilla-ones.

I did manage to get the hang of the import-mechanism of the newer ME3-explorer, though, and can thus start get cracking at recreating the replacement. Proof of concept for now has been the Mars-Citadel transition with Ashley-Romance locked in for Femshep, current preliminary result of which looks like the following:

www.youtube.com/watch

The process does appear to be somewhat more picky now, at least I don't recall the old version of that particular segment lagging in places quite as much. Remedy may either be inserting files of smaller size, or maybe look for sufficiently short, fitting lines elsewhere...will explore that at any rate.

I'll re-upload a new compilation of the modified pcc-files once I got the romance-section working, the only other place in-game where audio occurs for Femsheps during the romance. That of course still leaves the unresolved issue of whatever is behind most lines being muted out...

I hope somebody will figure out how to put Ashley's missing lines back. Atleast in Commons scene (100% bug. Also, Citadel DLC have a reference to bugged line. Strange.) and Memorial scene.
Fix for romance scene would be nice too.

Well, for now I've taken it to it's old state again at least...

As you'll see in the project-section, I've just uploaded the .pcc-files I've been tinkering with in the past again, with a few tweaks here and there. They do appear to be in working order.

I'll do a recording of what's new some time soon, hopefully with better resolution too - Windows Movie Maker isn't exactly stellar for cutting out the awkward dream-section, and upload to YT takes ages for me as is. :pinched:

Edit: Anyway, upload's done now and can be viewed here:

www.youtube.com/watch

Left the dream in since cutting resulted in boxed view in last recording...needless to say, still one of the worse 'features' of the game, those dreams.

A belated update:

I haven't booted up ME3 in a long while now, and doing this just now to check whether this is still working I found that to not be the case. Whether that's due to more recent updates or another cause I do not rightly know.

I have re-done the dialogue and uploaded the files with updated instructions on the project-page again. OP also got revised. If anyone else is running into problems there, do post them here.

Ok, sorry for being a proper stalker...haha, but I was looking into how to get the romance scenes without having to change my gender...and I can see in this thread that the scenes asked about on your projects side can be done with femshep. Would you mind telling me how to "lock the romance in"? What I've done up til now is just swap to BroShep and then I get the final romance scene, but the other scenes are all BroShep with a really weird face (coz I couldn't be bothered importing a headmesh). Anyway, sorry to peater you like this.

I got around to answering your question regarding that in HJF4's thread, and got the instructions on how to use save-editor in that regard linked in the OP here.

On that note, I haven't mentioned the Citadel rendezvous as the key point to definitely lock the romance in yet. May as well do that, as well as renaming the topic.
