So MrHimuraChan... whats the status report? the floods go down yet? rain stop?

Rain stopped and i went there today morning. No physical damage, only mud. Lots of mud. Clean-up job will end only next week (it's not only cleaning, you must wash the walls with boiling water and sterilyze everything). Things are slowly getting back to normal.

I have to say thats a really nice winter so far. its time to move over to spain this year. I planned to do so last year, but there were some problems with my dogs "green cards". im not getting younger and Im sick of this germany. yes, i hate germany, and I do hate this winter-times. But thanks for asking me ;-)

Glad to hear there wasnt any permanent damage.... hopefully you can get back into the groove of things quick!
Hell if I was closer I would come down and help out :)... although I guess If I was close enough to help, I would be busy cleaning my own place!

I live in Arizona, so...It's very, very dry. Right now it's "OK". It varies from 70-80F for most of the day. It's cold as hell at night, though. It feels so weird to wake up at 5:30 or 6 and see ice on your yard when it isn't cold anymore.

Oh, and summers are also hell. Not uncommon to reach highs of 120F if summer is feeling particularly douche-y.

Goddamn desert.

It probably isn't like your heat...Humid heat is tolerable, it's like your taking a hot shower...but dry heat? It feels like your body is crying from every orifice.

Also, I'd like some of your rain, please.

Love it, apparently the government is out of salt, so the roads can't be cleared anymore, and the upcoming weather is snow, snow, snow and MORE SNOW, so yeah.

Having spent eleven years in Houston, Texas, I can tell you that the human body is much better equipped for deserts than for rain forests.  My time spent in various deserts has been far less exhausting to handle than Houston was.  Add some smog on inversion days, and the desert is a big winner!

Rain forests are some of the best places in the world for life to flourish, and humans are no exception.

Also, Houston is sub-tropical. It's hardly a rain-forest. Where in the world would you get that idea? Image IPB
I'd take Houston/Miami/Orlando over Phoenix any day. My favorite state to this day is Washington, with rainforests a-plenty.

Deserts, on the other hand, are very hostile environments. Someone who is unprepared would die in less than a day. The rainforest, on the other hand, is home to plenty of fruits, and it has tons of water.

Well it's been pretty warm in Melbourne lately around the 25-30C Mark. Over the weekend it's going to be a scorcher (around 42C)

I heard you guys had pretty big sandstorms in 2008. Is this normal in Australia?
