I am currently playing Civ 5 (I'm a Civaholic).

Should I continue playing that, or should I start playing The Witcher?  (I'll likely play on an easier difficulty, since the concept around the combat was uuuuuuuuuuugh.  But I have only ever gotten past the prologue really).

Not feeling a Walking Dead itch (I have played it). My itch is split between something strategic and something fresh from an RPG standpoint.

My Civ game is at that cusp where winning has become mostly academic, which is a bit unfortunate (was my first playthrough with Gods and Kings though, and I like the religion mechanic. Espionage is lacking though).

Unfortunately I do not own Kingdoms of Amalur. Though I notice I need to download The Witcher (must have uninstalled it at some point!), so in the meantime I can Civ it up :D

I will tough it out in the Witcher early going, and perhaps share my findings since my narcissism means that other people are innately interested in what I have to say about it!

Downloaded and installed.

As for the cobmat, I remember being told that The Witcher had fantastic combat, so when I realized it was a sequence of timed clicks, I was really let down.

Going through prologue right now. Returning to the training area (Kaed Morhren or something like that >.>)

"Geralt, go to the tower and find a passage!"
"Alone?"

Hehe

Ah yes, I remember thinking "What, I *must* use a particular combat style against an individual? That seems a bit silly"

Still, going to press on. Just rendezvoused with the group after opening the gate.

Leo wasn't the brightest >.>

Seemed like a good kid though. I'll put him on the list of people to avenge!

Eh, I find "plot armor" not much of an issue in most games. I consider the standard combat to be something "unrealistic" simply because it's more fun that way.

So the idea that someone dies more easily in a cutscene isn't something that has really ever bothered me.

I do like the level up options in this game though. Tossed a point into strength, got my second power attack, and one into dexterity as well.

I don't mind the English VO so far. If I were to turn it to a different language, I likely wouldn't bother with voice at all, unfortunately.

I'm only playing on "intermediate" so hopefully I'm not forced to focus too much.

The fight against the Beast greatly illustrates how the combat system is quite the POS IMO.

Was able to get past the fight. Just clunky with the game telling me "Nope, you're going to go deathblow that stunned creature right now while Abigail fights (and dies) to 4 others" :@:@:@

For the most part I just used the group attack. Fortunately I had knockdown. I wasn't able to get my sign to actually knock The Beast down, unfortunately. That did work with the cockatrice though.

I haven't really picked any sides. I stopped the thugs from beating up on a dwarf, but also stopped some Squirrels from taking Haren's goods.

Although had I known what I known about Haren, I may have chosen differently. Though I did need his help to find the Salamandra, so I probably would have protected them regardless.

Even though I screwed myself over with ghoul's blood (and not getting it), I actually like that the game requires me to have learned about the monster in order to harvest them.

What do you think on the monsters in TW1? i love the different variations in the game but you will need to play further to see them.

Too early to tell I think.

All I have really seen are Drowners, Barghests, and ghouls.

Mostly did by my build around speed (and now that I have the silver sword, will be accented its speed skills now too.

Okay so far.

It's a bit too easy to bed a woman I think (although I guess with Triss there's an actual history there). Indifferent towards the amnesia aspect.

I like the other Witchers, especially the leader.

Professor is not all that interesting, although the sorcerer that was with him has me intrigued.

I thought it was an interesting take that the Beast was a manifestation of all the atrocities that the village had done. Was easy for my Geralt to justify smacking some heads around.

I find some of the choices are a bit too binary at times (such as dealing with Abigail, especially just talking with her after everything came to pass). I also found this a bit of a failing of the nonhuman encounters too (the dwarf getting picked on and the Scoa'tiel group).

I am finding it tough to understand why Witchers are not trusted, since all I did was go around and slay monsters that tormented people, presumably for less money than the Royal Huntsmen types do.

In general I found Chapter 1 pleasant. Nothing particularly egregious, although by the same token nothing spectacular either.

I did enjoy the start of Chapter 2 though. From the jail scene, as well as Siegfried. I just got out of the Sewers and am apparently in Vizmia's hive of scum and villainy!

I'm working a bit late tonight, but will hopefully get some time to play before bed.

Crusty's is 1000x more involved than I would like to go... haha.

I could snap off some photos while I play. I assume screenshots will save a.png or .jpg somewhere? (I'd prefer to not have to use MS Paint or something lol).

From there, how does one upload photos to our site? (never done it before. And since I'm really, really lazy I'd prefer to not have to use some 3rd party image hosting site)
