Seemed like a good kid though. I'll put him on the list of people to avenge!

So the idea that someone dies more easily in a cutscene isn't something that has really ever bothered me.
I do like the level up options in this game though. Tossed a point into strength, got my second power attack, and one into dexterity as well.

Eh, I find "plot armor" not much of an issue in most games. I consider the standard combat to be something "unrealistic" simply because it's more fun that way.
Of course, the comment was mostly in jest. Everyone else seems to take the invasion fine until the Sorcerer goes "oh ****, let's finish this kid off! He's not invincible unlike the others!".

I was a fan of the original Witcher's leveling system from an easy difficulty setting perspective, it's a shame higher difficulties basically force you to focus into one-two specific branches.

-Installed Flash's FCR mod. Helps with the combat and makes it harder.
-Switched to Polish VO's. The English ones are pretty bad.

I'm only playing on "intermediate" so hopefully I'm not forced to focus too much.

"It's all right. I barely knew them"

Bah, I like TW1 better. It has a better atmosphere and art style, and I for one prefer the clickity combat to clickityclickity roll.Maria Caliban wrote...
If you mean 'The Witcher 2,' then play that.
If you mean 'The Witcher,' stick with Civ.

Amalur is a lot of fun, but I also thought The Witcher was as well. Get yourself into the second chapter and from there on it's really, really good, IMO.
Well, maybe I'm weird, but for me the first chapter was my favourite. Then the fourth. Both had pretty unique, different and deeply running atmospheres. Hidden secrets determining the fate of the whole populace... (particularly in 1). Chapters 2 & 3, while impressive in regard to the city scope, felt too much like FedEX fetch-fests at times. Also some quests, like the investigation, felt a bit chaotic.

And here I thought I might be the only one!
TW2 is a more... coherent and more fluid experience... but TW1 is so much richer! Both in the scope and in the atmosphere.
And I'm no fun of roll-style combat in TW2 either. Wasn't much of a fan of TW1 clicky combos... but after trying TW2 combat, I found the combos more entertaining...
Edit: A slight spoiler, if you wish.
Try to do all special monster contracts from the huntsman in each chapter. There are 2 per chapter (10 altogether) and if you miss one before a chapter is finished, you can't come back. The final reward in Chapter V is rather nice...

Exactly as I feel. Chapters one and four almost stand on their own, separate from the main plot. And yet I liked that, living the life of a Witcher, dealing with the locals and their dirty secrets.

I am currently playing Civ 5 (I'm a Civaholic).
Should I continue playing that, or should I start playing The Witcher? (I'll likely play on an easier difficulty, since the concept around the combat was uuuuuuuuuuugh. But I have only ever gotten past the prologue really).

personally will choose Dark Souls over The witcher 2. the first witcher is a very atmospheric game and so does dark souls. The witcher 2, on the other hand, did nothing that really impressed me except for beautiful sceneries.

Did someone say BSN Civilization match?
Let us know how your Witcher playthrough comes along both are great games although I hate the combat of the first one.
