Even though I screwed myself over with ghoul's blood (and not getting it), I actually like that the game requires me to have learned about the monster in order to harvest them.

What do you think on the monsters in TW1? i love the different variations in the game but you will need to play further to see them.

Alchemy really matter a lot on that game, creating potions makes big difference to outcome of fights.

I never used Alchemy and I made it through on Normal difficulty.

Too early to tell I think.

All I have really seen are Drowners, Barghests, and ghouls.

Mostly did by my build around speed (and now that I have the silver sword, will be accented its speed skills now too.

I remember the fight with the Beast. I had to reload the first time. Second time, used Aard, stunned it, deathblowed it, BAM! Dead. I found it oddly easy.

The swamps were tough place at times later in game, some of the monsters there are really nasty. Man eating plants and especially wyverns. With some I had to open up console commands (cheat) to refill my health to beat but mainly because I made the mistake of thinking would be interesting to explore the place without regard to reality of what lives there.

Fleders and vampires. I want them back in TW3 Dammit.

I hate the Bloedzuigers. Killing them is easy enough, but I almost always get hit by their poison explosion upon death. The first evasive jump doesn't get you out of range, and Geralt walks back slowly in combat mode.

I never actually been hit by their poison to be honest. I always make it away in time before explode. As soon as start to fall I run away or jump away couple times, one jump is not far enough away but there is time to go further away or atleast always was for mine. Those man eating plants however were evil as could not avoid getting hit all the time even when pop a speed potion to slow down time though I did find the hard attack stance managed to cut them down with least hits taken.

It's wyvern island that the most evil place in swamps. I was just exploring and came across it. I had eventually managed to get onto the island and find stuff do some quests there but had to lure them away one at time very carefully so wouldn't pull more than one.

Me too!!

@OP: Hope you enjoy it. I love TW and played many times at the hardest difficulty, which is not so hard after we manage advanced alchemy, crafting potions with badass secondary properties (albedo, nigredo, rubedo) and sword oils specific for each type of monster, humans included. Get some money from trading ingredients and buy all monster books you can find in each act so you get better ingredients too.

I always blasted them with an upgraded Igni which let me kill them from range.

With some of the swamp monsters like wyverns, I always tried to lure them away from their pack so that I could kill them one by one, and apply liberal Aard.  That doesn't help with the flesh-eating plants.  Fortunately you can run away from most monsters in a pinch.

I don't know what I've been doing wrong. I've fought those things often enough, I jump back when it starts to fall down, but then Geralt usually refuses to make another jump immediately afterwards and instead shuffles back. That's not enough to get out of range. Ugh, many hours of frustration. =]I even got killed on a higher level because I was forced to fight several of them at once and I got hit by explosion after explosion, haha.

Fire is very useful against the pesky plants. One igni and they're down or at least half of their health is gone.:)

Wyverns have never been much of a problem for me, because I did the same as Addai and lured them away one by one.

The real question is Allan, how have you been liking the characters and writing so far?

Okay so far.

It's a bit too easy to bed a woman I think (although I guess with Triss there's an actual history there). Indifferent towards the amnesia aspect.

I like the other Witchers, especially the leader.

Professor is not all that interesting, although the sorcerer that was with him has me intrigued.

I thought it was an interesting take that the Beast was a manifestation of all the atrocities that the village had done. Was easy for my Geralt to justify smacking some heads around.

I find some of the choices are a bit too binary at times (such as dealing with Abigail, especially just talking with her after everything came to pass). I also found this a bit of a failing of the nonhuman encounters too (the dwarf getting picked on and the Scoa'tiel group).

I am finding it tough to understand why Witchers are not trusted, since all I did was go around and slay monsters that tormented people, presumably for less money than the Royal Huntsmen types do.

In general I found Chapter 1 pleasant. Nothing particularly egregious, although by the same token nothing spectacular either.

I did enjoy the start of Chapter 2 though. From the jail scene, as well as Siegfried. I just got out of the Sewers and am apparently in Vizmia's hive of scum and villainy!

I'm working a bit late tonight, but will hopefully get some time to play before bed.

As for the cobmat, I remember being told that The Witcher had fantastic combat, so when I realized it was a sequence of timed clicks, I was really let down.

I know that feeling. I get what they were trying to achieve with the combat, but the end result isn't particularly exciting or enjoyable. To an extent, I could likely say the same for the original Mass Effect(though I enjoyed that combat significantly more). Pick a sword, pick a stance, come on geralt, let's do a dance.

Paranoia and Exaggerations through half-truths(and flyers, apparently).

I agree slightly with Maria on TW2: If I had to choose between the 2, I'd go for the second. However, I still think it's a game worth playing for seeing where the second is coming from, and get significant plot points and characters bits.

Allan, have you considered doing a LP for it styled similarly to Crusty's? Throw in a few screenshots & such, and you've got quite a topic.

Crusty's is 1000x more involved than I would like to go... haha.

I could snap off some photos while I play. I assume screenshots will save a.png or .jpg somewhere? (I'd prefer to not have to use MS Paint or something lol).

From there, how does one upload photos to our site? (never done it before. And since I'm really, really lazy I'd prefer to not have to use some 3rd party image hosting site)

I simply couldn't hack the combat in the witcher. I tried a few times but decided not to get carpal tunnel as a result of a game.

You play Civ V so I assume you have a Steam account then. You could just add it to Steam and through the screenshots manager upload them directly to Steam and voila.

Screenshots are right in your profile.

If you don't want to use the BSN version, I'd say Photobucket. It has a simple Drop-And-Drag method they recently updated to their website. Simple and effective. If you prefer the BSN way, try clicking "Albums" at the very top of the page, create new album, and it should be relatively simple from that.

Considering the absurdly low price CDRProjekt Red is charging for both games, I'd say both are a journey worth taking. Most enjoy the second more than the first, but it's still a fun game.

Edit: Wasn't aware of the steam method, that might be easier as well.

You never have to leave the game either. Just press F12 and after exiting any game the manager appears and you can choose which screenshots to upload or delete.

Witcher 2 is also currently on sale for $14.99. Remeber it's a DRM free game and you can take the serial you're emailed and register the game on gog for yet another copy which gives you access to more art, music and bonus stuff or you could wait for the winter sale on coming soon to Steam and it will probably be even lower.

Ah yes, I completely forgot about Steam's screenshots (which is embarrassing since I've actually used it myself haha). Although ideally a lets play integrates the pics right in the posts. I'll likely play with the BSN's since it's all together then.

Yeah, might as well wait for the Steam WInter Sale in 10 days before buying anything.

Siegfried seems like a straight up stand up chap. I like him! Vouched for me as I entered the Dike quarter.

EDIT:  Although I am crashing hardcore as I was up way too late yesterday lol.  Off to bed.
