I don't recall game crashes in the swamps, but I do recall it being my least favorite. Giant Killer Flowers, slightly confusing level structure, and not particularly exciting outside of the combat. There's plenty of alchemical ingredients lying around, though.

Edit: Apparently there's a bug in Act 3, according to the Knight of Phoenix.

Ugh, the swamp was horrible. Easily the worst part in the game for me. I'd consider it the Ostagar/Taris/Peragus Station of the game.

At least I experienced it. Apparently other people did as well, some experiencing it in Act 2.
Though I experienced it in a non-Steam copy. The steam version had no such problems, based on my experience.

And yes, the swamps were horrible. So boring and redundnant.

Following up the investigate. Interrogated Ramsmeat, which unsurprisingly went no where. Raymond wants to talk again (and I have to let the Merchant know he's in the clear).

Also ratted on Coleman. He was a bit of a ponce and its one less drug dealer on the streets!

Also, in an effort to make this the worst lets play ever, here are some random assorted pics that I snapped off in no particular order:

The Vizima Confidential Uber-Quest was definitely a memorable one. The screenshots remind me how well they did the city of vizima. The whole atmosphere of it reminds me a bit of Whiterun from Skyrim. The All-In-One Towns i.e. Majora's Mask and the like can work when done properly.

...Aaaand the old woman.

Old Woman: WHAAAT? You're Drunk.
Geralt: Not true...

The boring swamps also had some cool caves, the dryad's grove, and good ol' gramps. They weren't all bad.

I didn't mind the content of the swamp personally.

Some of the dialogue is pretty hilarious (for perhaps not the best reasons). It doesn't really take away from the game, but I like:

Raymond: You and Shani are friends. You should get her to do an autopsy
Geralt (suspiciously): Heeeeey, are you spying on me!?!?
Raymond: It's my job
Geralt (calmly): See you later!

Impressive that it's the NWN engine as far as I'm concerned!

That's so Geralt.

(I love Geralt. I actually enjoyed his character even more in the Witcher book I read, The Last Wish. The narrative was completely different, in a way that'd be really hard to realise in a game, IMO.)

If by "neutrality" you mean the principle of political neutrality, Roche's path is still more or less neutral if you choose to play it that way.

I see no neutrality in either side and that is not what Geralt stands for as far as i can see but that is the only way we are able to play the game.

Perhaps you misunderstand the character and the situation, just because Geralt chooses to take the neutral path most of the time doesnt mean that he is incapable of choosing a side or supporting a cause, Geralt's neutrality goes a bit deeper than merely stubbornly refusing to be anything other than neutral, he has reasons for his neutrality.

As for the situation regarding the choice in the Witcher 2 without going into spoilers let me just say that Geralt has his own goals, the choice in the Witcher 2 isnt so much about taking a side but more forming an alliance in order to achieve a common goal. Ok with Iorveth you kind of get roped into his conflict but with Roche you are more or less there for your own reasons.

Blood of Elves sums up the idea of neutrality in TW2. Especially the convoy incident. I love that scene. CDPR took so much from that book.

This. The medallion always knows even if Geralt does not. B)

*thumbs up*

This means you can't really fail the investigation anymore. Yes, you can actually have that happen in the game (happened to me) and the game would punish you gruesomely for it down the line

What would happen? I got it right first time around, and liked too much the results to try failing it on purpose.

Well it's bit in the spoiler territory, so I'll put it in upside-down text (this forum doesn't have proper spoiler BB code, right?) :

The only problem I have with the swamp was wyverns and getting lost a lot. Thought was tricky trying to remember ways around right hand side of the map and had to keep resorting to the lost in maze trick of following one wall to find the exit or in this case the enterance places on right hand side of map. Would constantly keep popping between map and screen to keep track of which direction was heading in especially when came to those pillar things placed all over map.

I absolutely despised the Chapter 2 visit to the swamp. Finding those gems was a really tedious pain.

Backtracking in the swamps are a pain, but for atmosphere they're great. It helps to have a drowner talisman so you don't have to stop and fight those skeevy things every two minutes.

Have you talked to Carmen, the madame at the Eager Thighs Brothel? Go talk to her. She has one of the best quests of the game.

The only quest I got from her was to protect some of the other courtesans at night.
