Thats why you could have two classes:  "Full Members", proper Best of Teh Best;  "-1 Sub Members", the underclass of almost-theres.
Or just have different classifications of membership on how close to BotB.  As leader you could be Head Member; then down a level Big Members;  next level Mimi Members (-1);  Tiny Members (-2) etc?
