VFX Bats?

Eg - Apply the visual to a location or object, and then a cloud of bats flies out from that location?
Im trying to get some vampire-esq visuals together, and a flock of bats is one of my all time favorites.

I can sort of envision how it may look - epic undead summon visual, and then 8-10 bats flying out, and upwards out of view, and then vanishing once they reach z + 25 in height etc

If it's possible though, that'd be the least difficult way of doing it I can think of.

The particle-bat could have an orbit anim, then give the particles mass of -.02 or so... Hmmm.
I'm liking this idea...

This would be awesome.
But alas - I know the limitations.
But I did think to myself.
How about a Flock of Bats - Disolve animation (Bats erupt from a point, and fly away)
And then a
Flock of Bats - Reform animation (Bats fly down from the sky, converge on a central point)
The Custom Content users could then use them for their own purposes.
Good for themed teleport powers

This is a great idea! Wish I had the skills to help. It would be cool to see ravens or vultures as well. _six was using creatures ariund bodies in the preview video for his module a while back. Another cool crypt effect would be multiple glowing eyes like rats down a black corridor. The pirates of the caribean does this at the end of the ride at Disneyland.

Thats a good point about the ravens and vultures.
This whole 'effect' where the body breaks apart and becomes a flock could turn into a series of effects.
eg - Flock of Doves, Flock of Bats, Ravens, Bees, Locusts etc
I bet someone could even make a Plague of Rats version too.
Eg - Instead of flying into the sky like the bugs, bats, or birds, it could be a terrain version, where they erupt from a point, and then gravity pulls them down.
Perhaps some sort of animation to make them scury outwards, and fade out.
(I know they are simple illusions of objects, not actual AI Controlled objects, so it wouldnt be possible to get them to do complex things like - seek out nearest rat hole and escape - Lol)

For the mice/rats, I'd simply use creatures and AI. You could start with the Boids AI and give the "leader" - a status which could transfer from one creature to another - a direction to go.

my first ever try at using gmax to create a visual effect, the bats are a 2x2 grid of 32x32 images set to one of the emitters we use on psu, try not to be too harsh lol
if someone whos any good at image manipulation could take the existing bat model and slice a profile of it, someone more talented could make something like this which would look better though

Mike England's Flocking Behaviour
Bloodsong's Flock of Seagulls
Fabulous stuff here :-) And there.
Edit: Will be implementing this in my ambient predator/prey spawns if Henesua doesn't beat me to it :-)

uploading the files as they are
edit: for some reason the emitters dont show anything in game after replacing one texture even though it appears correct to me, need to fix this first

Where'd you upload it to? =)
What video/shape? (link?)
Check the emitter in notepad++.
Sometimes the SpawnType gets reset to -1 (which only spawns when the parent moves).
