Will Dragon Age 3 include background choices?
By that I mean like the first Mass Effect game let you select one of three choices for early upbringing, one for military history for Shepard. The choices would each give one short side mission, nothing major in other words, but would serve as a good entry point for how you role played your Shepard, even for us who had no idea about the goings-on in the ME-universe.

I know DA2 did not have this, and that worked out pretty allright too, but then again, it took me a little more time to get into DA2 too.

So anyway, will Dragon Age 3 have something like this, and eventually, why do you think it should/shouldn't?

There'll be background choices, and they said that they want them to be deeper than the ME backgrounds.

 :happy:  That actually makes me that much more interested in DA3's development.

We know next to nothing about how it will work though. I suspect there will be a Kirkwaller background though.

I think that for the mage's background we'll get one former Circle mage and one apostate (even before DA2 and Asunder) mage. Don't know if we'll get more.

I think the background choice will be multi tiered, like Mass Effect, except perhaps with more choices.  So I don't believe it will be as simple as choosing apostate or circle.

as for Kirkwaller, any class could work.  The Mage would just have to be a survivor that escaped the city before or during the annulment.

I hope Bioware actually do make the backgrounds have more of an effect on the story than the Mass Effect "Pre-Service history" ones. (Alright, maybe ME1 had some reactive quests depending on your backstory, but in the 2nd and 3rd games they got sidelined to being simple references by other characters).

Changing dialogue with some characters is always neat.
