Yup pressed start couldn't log in to ea searvers went to checking downloadable content for ten min.I wasn't given the option to play offline.I haven't seen that before but it PISSES me off that I have to be online to play.I don't buy those type of games for a reason.So with this does it mean when they do close multiplayer we cant play single anymore?

I used to have a link to an overall EA serverstatus page or a Mass Effect status page - can't rmemeber which. TheBattlefield3 link above says that only PC is down for them.

With me, when I first tried to load up the game I got stuck at the "Loading DLC screen". I disconnected the xbox from the internet and reloaded the game. I got to the main menu that time, but when I went to load the game it told me that the dlcs couldn't be loaded.

I'm not sure either. I'm on PS3 and I have always been able to play ME3 SP and all DLC offline (in fact, I actively do this when a new DLC is out so that I don't get a million game invites when all I wanna do is play the new SP DLC, LOL). All I do is NOT sign in to the Playstation Network. Boot up game, it does its checks, notices no connection to the EA servers, and loads everything up just fine.



I think people encounter issues when their Internet connection is enabled. Maybe then the game can't escape the memory loop of checking DLC. I have my PS3 set so that I have to actually sign into the Internet, not auto log-in as soon as the PS3 turns on. It saves me from any issues when I just want to play offline on any game.

Ps3 not responding yet, every time i try to start a game, i must quit to main menu of the ps3, because it freezes with checking downloadable content.

It might be a minor inconvenience to have to go offline to stop it from getting stuck checking.. but it's hardly the same thing as "I can't play the SP game

Sorry, maybe we are all unclear?  

You select ME3 from xbox menu. The game begins to load, at no point are you provided the option to disable the game from going online. it immediately checks for content, whatever, and never completes or stops that check.  
The only way I would be able to disconnect the internet is to pull the plug, which would log me out of xbox live.

A moot point, as folks are posting the servers are back.  

Just saying bro, because you can play SP does not mean EVERYONEs XBOX /Game will be in a state to do so.

it still shows pc down. However I'm loving that background with the super hornet in it. Seems like xbox and ps3 might be getting hit next it's now showing as stressed. Something big is happening to EA's servers now.

There must be a seperate issue at hand here then. On PC, if the servers are down, it notices that during start-up and I can't go MP, but everything else is fine. And as stated by EA/Bioware, the system was designed so that you have to be online to AUTHENTICATE your DLC, but after that, it works offline just fine. And I've seen many people posting that they could disable their connections and play just fine when the servers are gakked.

YMMV, certainly, but it seems like a lot of folks assume that "this is the new law", where you get locked out of SP content due to server outage, which is not the case, or anyone's intention.
