Or does Bioware still think they're "too video-gamey"?

I probably don't need to explain ME3's ending here, but one of the biggest complaints about it was the lack of a final boss, particularly the lack of some kind of confrontation with Harbinger. However DA3 ends, I hope that it at least has a final boss fight.

Starchild will also be in DA3 talking about how the mages and templars cannot coexist

And then he'll give you the choice to destroy all mages, control all mages, or merge all mages with everyone else.

Trust me, having you suddenly fight Harbinger and still be stuck with those endings wouldn't have averted any of the backlash. A 'final boss' to me makes no difference, all that matters is that we get closure.

For example, DA2. We got a final boss, and there was pretty much no closure. The final boss didn't help any.

I do enjoy boss fights. Especially if I have to go through boss to get to the next level. It's like a final exam. The opportunity to take all I've learned. All the skills I've acquired, and put them to the test. I like the challenge. I like that initial moment of nervousness when you look up and realize, "oh, god...i'm in trouble."

Then the moment when you defeat them. Hard fought and well earned victory. Not eye gougingly difficult, but not simpleminded, either.

I also like it when a boss will switch up their tactics on you. The emotion. The adrenaline. The victory..yessss! I hope we do have boss battleS.

I think you live in a different reality than I do if the lack of a final boss was really one of the biggest complaints about ME3.

Am I the only one glad there was no boss battle at the end of ME3?

First of all, the battle in the ruins of London fit perfectly with everything going on.

And secondly, have you played any of the Mass Effect games previous to ME3? Or even ME3 for that matter?

ME1: A rocket regurgitating, robotic frog.
ME2: A retarded but also shy Terminator.
ME3: A giant cockroach, which is susceptible to side stepping. (Rannoch)

Anyone?

We've had final boss battles in DAO, Awakening, Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak, Witch Hunt, DA2, Legacy and Mark of the Assassin.

Why do you think they'd change s**t up now? Because they're taking a few hints from Skyrim, which didn't have a boss battle?

DA2's handling of the final boss fights were two of the worst things about the game.

And my all time favourite game didn't have a boss fight. It had an empty room at the bottom of a demon-filled dungeon at the heart of the world...

And a mirror with someone else trapped on the other side, waiting for you to set them free.

I guess BSN is still trying to impute what they perceive ME's failures to be to the DA crew.

I've played every game at least three times through. And your mocking descriptions of the final bosses are juvenile and absurd.  Any boss can be made to sound like that if you're selective with your words. Personally, I hated the London level because I've already seen the "blasted-to-hell modern city" level in many other games.

We had 2 boss fights in Awakening....cuz yes I killed the Architect. My whole team got squished. If it had not been for my special fire resistant ring...

Even there, tho, I don't recall him switching up tactics. It's been awhile, but I don't remember.

Really some of the best boss fights I've encountered have been in jrpg's. Jesus.

Why do you think they'd change s**t up now? Just because they're taking a few tips from Skyrim, which had no final boss battle?

ME1, ME2, and Lair of the Shadow Broker all had final boss fights, then ME3 suddenly didn't. They've "changed s**t up" before.

And Skyrim didn't have a final boss battle? Then explain to me what's happening in this video (SPOILERS):www.youtube.com/watch

He casts some different spells, but he doesn't really change tactics.

No, I thought ME3's ending was much better than ME2's terminator...thing.
I also much prefered the confrontation with Loghain at the Landsmeet, to the fight with the archdemon, those two things happened out of order...imo.

I for one, do not feel that a video game final boss is essential. Context is important. (For the record, I didn't enjoy either of the boss fights in ME1 or ME2 since they seemed to exist simply for the sake of "we must have a boss fight.")

However, given that the Dragon Age games have included them rather extensively, I fail to see how this is anything more than just another thread from a poster that wishes to vent some frustration via some angsty passive aggression.

Locking.
