I enjoyed many things about the quest in DA2 to find Nathaniel in the Deep Roads.  One of those, though it had no gameplay effect, was that he was able to sense the darkspawn.

Since Mark Laidlaws panel hinted really heavily that a Grey Warden could join the party (temporarily, permanently, we haven't a clue yet) I was musing about the fact that the Wardens and the 'spawn can sense each other.  It would be cool if something were in place that allows us the use that.  Just a little "bells and whistle" kind of thing.

Or it could be a scripted scene, as it was in Helping Nathaniel.

And yes, its a bit early, but I'm not likely to remember this nearly a year from now. :)

The way it worked in Origins was Darkspawn would show up on your minimap in the same way enemies would if you had that Survival skill (or whatever it's called). Before battle, I mean.

Maybe something like that? Have Darkspawn be visible on the minimap before you spot/are spotted by them when the Grey Warden is in your party?

If you mean that Darkspawn always showed up, then no that isn't correct. They only poped up if you had bought Survival, just like with any other enemy type.

Only thing id want if a warden was a permanent companion is say he shouts out warning if darkspawn are near, if darkspawn are even in the game to begin with

They'll probably have some presence. Like, we'll probably go to the Deep Roads or something at one point...

Oh, I imagine they'll be in the game SOMEWHERE. How important they are to the overall plot of DA3 is anyone's guess at this point, even with a Grey Warden as a (heavily hinted) party member.

You mean like rogues who only warn me of traps as they blow up in my face? Lol. If we get that from a companion, it should be a bit more useful. At least on my rogue playthrough I could dodge the stupid traps even when I didn't see them soon enough to disarm. Now it's just a matter of memorising where the traps are.

Also: "warden senses tingling!" I don't care if it's a silly homage to Spiderman, I still find it funny.

Though the darkspawn and the deep raods will probably show up in DA3, they darkies aren't realy suppose to be a central figure in the game... Blight's over.

It wouldn't be Dragon Age without a visit from Flemeth, a jaunt in the Deep Roads and a trip to the Fade.

I'm sure we'll see some Darkspawn.

Or so we think. There are still two Old Gods unaccounted for.
