It's a good caster gun. I keep it on most of my adepts along with the acolyte.
Strip shields with the acolyte, and slap on AP mod with hornet and use it against bosses.

It loses .5 because I recently discovered that the Collector SMG is actually pretty good and I'm prone to running out of ammo in the middle of intense firefights. I prefer to not have to think about ammo boxes. Besides that though, it's a great gun. Good damage, accurate, and not too heavy. Probably not for people who aren't used to rapid mouse clicking, but it's always a solid choice for casters and turians.

Decent, but like all the SMGs, it's saddled by a flaw that requires management to overcome. I don't understand why the SMGs need to be balanced this way. I presume weight and ulm to be the reason, but cooldown formulas are forgiving. More forgiving than these guns are powerful. Why does an entire class of weapons need babysitting to be useful?

If you have a fast trigger finger, it can do some very good damage.
If you have enough extra stability from mods/passives, it's very accurate. You can snipe with it from across the map. It's very good for a caster, allowing them some versatile shooting without killing their cooldown.
I love it, even though my hurricane is at X. The hurricane does more damage, but the Hornet is better at range.

It's a decent gun and i'll admit I was surprised by it's damage output when I used it for the outsider challenge as I had pretty much written it off as garbage before that.
I would say 5/10 if the hurricane was a 10/10.
It too much clicking for me and I would rather take a hurricane or a tempest. I think it should at least hold another 5-6 clips worth of ammo considering its massive recoil and need for some form of stability control.

4/10 for me. As much as I hate to say it, this gun just doesn't fill any sort of niche like the other smgs. I honestly think it should have its damage per bullet increased. This way players can justify picking this thing over any other smg in the game.

Its a great gun, does decent damage, and light amazingly light. Equipping a Stability mod, and high velocity barrel make it great.
I would say probably a 8/10 - 9/10 when other smgs are considered. It is only outclassed by the CSMG and Hurricane.
