I actually like this gun a lot on my Phoenix Adept; useful as something to fire between powers. I give it a 8/10.

So as a sidearm, 7/10. Does it's job acceptably well, but it's got a lot of stiff competition knocking it down the list.
As a primary gun...probably best not to.

Before Earth weapon mods, it was at least 7.5/10. Precision weapon, good at all distances, excellent transition game, encouraged good cover habits. Suffered a bit against armor, recoil took some getting used to, hard to use on the move, semi-auto.
After Earth weapon mods, 9/10 and maybe slightly higher. Stab and pen mods made this weapon even better. All of its weaknesses, as long as you can manage to click rapidly for sustained DPS, were removed by those additions.
I really don't understand the hate for it.
I agree wholeheartedly.

Before the recoil dampener was released: 2/10.
After its release: 6/10.

Weak, doesn't compare to the GPSMG + CSMG (one of the best smgs)

descent against big bosses like atlas or prime. hardest hitting rare smg. not that that's saying a lot.
6.5/10 as an smg

I mostly used it on the original turians, and then it's not half bad. Pretty accurate, even when zoomed in, and decent damage for low weight. On any other class, though, the recoil is a bit much for my taste. Too much button mashing is required to give it a decent rate of fire, and button mashing makes it harder to control the recoil. So for most classes, it's mostly useful as a close-in SMG fired from the hip. And for that role... well, I have the Hurricane VI, which does way more damage and doesn't require me to mash the LMB nearly as much.
I might use it as a backup on a character with really poor carrying capacity, but for the most part I prefer the hurricane with lightweight materials if I want a light backup weapon with a lot of firepower.
4/10.

I'd say 1/10 because you can't really rate anything 0/10 but I think I'll never use it again.

It's alright, as long as you don't start comparing it to the Hurricane and Collector SMG. I honestly don't enjoy using it, and didn't bother with the challenge.

It's still not good, it just compensates for a flaw that other, better guns don't have, and losing out on other mods in the process.Arppis wrote...
Why don't you put recoil dampener on? It's awesome then, it has virtualy no recoil if you do that.
If it had been a full-auto smg, it wouldn't need recoil dampener. But the burst nature of it makes it hard to compensate for recoil manually while maintaining a good rate of fire.

It's a fun gun (IMHO) on bronze and silver, especially if you take the piercing mod, but I won't use it on gold as my main weapon though as it doesn't put out enough damage for my liking.

Of course, its niche (light weight, moderate damage, pretty good accuracy) is pretty much pointless with the way the game's played. It would probably need to rival the Argus for damage before most people would consider using it. It beats the pants off every light assault rifle that isn't a Mattock, but what doesn't these days. It's also a nice alternative to light pistols, if you need a light weight side arm for the Acolyte with some actual range on it.
Its damage hasn't kept up, and there's no real enemy it performs especially well against. Its synergy with turians is laughable, since they all prefer full autos or heavier guns. It's a victim of BioWare designing new guns faster than they could create niches for them.
Still. I like it. Solid dependable rare, handy if you want a (more damaging) alternative to the Vindicator or most light pistols. I wouldn't shun it if your manifest isn't near max, and there are cases where it happens to make a decent sidearm. If you absolutely hate burst-fire guns though... well, it's disqualified at the outset.

I was not entirely impressed. Damage output is meh. I'm not a huge fan of burst-fire weapons in the first place, but when they do so little damage as well...I will say getting headshots with it was fairly easy, you just aim at the lower torso and fire, if you don't fight the recoil your final bullet should land a headshot.
It's probably really good on the Turian Soldier, but I haven't had the chance to try that yet. Maybe tonight I'll give it a go. Apart from that, it's not an especially decent sidearm, and I'm finding completing the challenge with it far more painful than the Locust or Tempest was.
Now, if I could get the Hornet variant that Cerberus troopers are using....that would be another story entirely.
