The same reason "Modern" FPS are all about killing brown people. They are an established "bad guy", so its acceptable to dehumanize them.
I hate paranoia and conspiracy theories.

It's saved a lot of lives. A good amount of it is healthy in my opinion and it might just save yours one day.

well i hate krogan more, mostly because of MP Mode.
Funny thing that you can exterminate 4 races in ME3, and after that deal with rest i think.

It actually is. Objectively imo...lol.

okay
Right over your head.
Yeah, I figured it was some attempt at one.
Jumbo shrimp lol
Heh, actually one of my favorite pulp sci fi novel series throws that at the intrepid space explorers. One of the first allies in space they meet, an advanced speicies that may give them a chance in a losing war........are some of the ugliest most creepy things, friggin spiders, good guys though in the end. Semi-interesting story about how they love their allies but can't get over that they are friggin icky spiders.
Not sure how that become part of our racial memories, back when we were tiny little moles in a world of giant spiders?, anyways they are still icky

and place myself in front of the camera for perfect shots of
my........enviro-suit."
"....you're free to go. And what are you?"
"I'm a batarian."
"Get in the truck pal."
"I'm a humonoid I have rights!"
"No, you're a baseball glove get on the truck!"

I never really found them interesting. Are they anything other than humans with an extra set of eyes? All the other races have unique dispositions, if that makes any sense. Salarians: quick and intelligent. Turians: disciplined, strict. Asari: live long, also intelligent, diplomatic. Quarians: resourceful, strong relationship with Geth
See what I mean? How are Batarians different?
Well they are one of the oldest races in the galaxy, and the first military one to boot.
In the novels it's said that the batarians are experts in trading, and have more advanced medical tech than any other race. But this was before the big withdraw from the galaxy, so times may have changed that.
Batarians are basically human krogan, if that makes any sense. They're physical stronger and tougher than humans, but still smarter than your usual krogan, or at least more intellectually focused.
Anyway, I like the batarians. In a weird sort of way I sympathize with them, their leaders ruin their civilization and culture, and most are pretty much left to the whime of the state or outside races. It's sad, but at the same time I'm happy that they were freed from the iron fist of the hegemony in ME3, but sad that is cost so much for them to be free.

I like the Batarians, I accept them despite all their imperfections and flaws......./Al Pacino: I'M A FAN OF MAN!

Might have something to do with the fact that there is not a single decent batarian in the game till ME3.
Maybe if Shepard wasn't a filthy human, the ones we meet wouldn't be so bad.

What about Salkie? The Blue Suns merc in ME2. He didn't seem like such a bad guy. The one who met you after you got off the shuttle to get Archangel.
Also I think people hate them because they're the most human-like.

I did play a racist-to-Batarians Shepard before. Colonist>ruthless. In short, she hated Batarians so much, that it's the reason that she made certain that she killed every last slaver she could, in a roaring rampage of revenge. First character I've ever let Balak to kill the hostages on, because letting a slaver Batarian terrorist go would have been very out of character.
By the way, she was paragon... She was renegade to Batarians though.

Thank you so much know I will see spiders when I see them and will want to KILL ALL BATARIANS since I have an extreme fear of spiders. But seriously I think the batarians government is bad since they choose who they want to represent them and they choose slavers and killers.Kileyan wrote...

I do my best to kill or be rude to every single Batarian I encounter.
I really wish they didnt drop the humans first/ borderline xenophobic Shepard we could play in ME1... would have been so interesting if they had let you keep that attitude all the way through the series, a Shep who doesent like aliens forced to try and unite the races? GOLD!
