If you look in the trailer, you see plenty of Alistair but in one shot you do see Oghren in the action briefly for one second.

Therefore I'm speculating that Alistair will return as a non playable character and that the "old favorite" is in fact Oghren.

Who here agrees?

Too soon. I'd prefer a choice in the matter but it will probably be Alistair.

Everyone but Oghren and Morrigan has a chance to die in DA:O

I'm going with Oghren.

Dog doesn't return? How you gonna explain that?

Turns out dog is a girl and someone got her preggers?

I will be dissapointed if the current story line ends in this expansion. I want a full fledged sequel to piolot my warden through damnet..

I think the ultimate sacrifice ending is the best way to end the main game so I won't mind starting as a new Gray Warden with the last one being remembered as a hero.

I'm hoping the returning character is dependent on what your final save game was.

Well, big breeds don't usually live all that long (seriously, mastiffs and danes are considered old at eight years), and Dog is already fully grown by the time we meet him, so depending on how long after the original campaign this is set...

You can't really compare made up species of dogs to real ones. Although, I guess that would be the most probable reasons for not having dog. :P

Jowan would be fun. I hope the big surprise isn't Alister considering he is in the trailer.

Alistair will probably be a non playable character. If he left in the original game, those scenes will probably be replaced by Anora.

How anyone can prefer Anora over Alistair is beyond me.

As has been stated, it's probably Oghren, since he is the only one that doesn't have a chance to die plus I'm not really sure if you have a choice of NOT recruiting him (he does get "forced" on you, when you meet Branka after all). Other than that I can only speculate that it is possible to meet previous companions/NPC's depending on your choices in the main game (ME2 style, so to speak).

You do not have to take Oghren after you have completed that part of the story as I told him to take a hike in one of my play throughs.

Well maybe this is a way a test to see how the decisions made in your saves effect the expansion before they do something like a sequel? As for the companion...Well considering from the look of things it's in Orlais I could see Leliana and maybe a cameo from Morrigan. It would be awesome if at the end of the playthrough you see Morrigan lol

Alistair is probably going to be an npc but that would be crappy lol. I mean if he's really like Maric we all know what Maric would do at least those of us who read the prequel novels hehe.

If the game is indeed able to follow on seamlessly from an existing savegame then we have to assume it's a character that cannot be killed in the existing plotline. Morrigan is the most obvious especially as most of her 'endings' go some way to setting up her departure from Ferelden.

My hope is that you can load in a savegame where the PC sacrificed himself and then hear about your own awesomeness posthumously :D

I think Oghren is a good choice. Most people recruit him last in the original game.

Don't even talk like that! Dog and I are BFFs, we're going to the Deep Roads together thirty years down the line, he's going to live forever!

I think its going to be Oghren too. He shows up twice in the trailer both times it looks like he is in party formation.

Anora has the Leah buns. Never doubt the power of Star Wars fans.
