Yes, the demons are based of Christian vices, which make little sense in a world without Christianity where the demons aren't hellish beings attempting to damn the souls of man.

Will this just be added in as the Circles and Chantry already new about it and is just now telling the player, or is it a newly discovered and really rare demon (which I would think odd), or are we going to get more info on the nature of spirits and that they are not so static and can change? Justice kind of pointed to the latter part.

Sex and hunger drives compel you to act in order to reach a state of homeostasis, to not be hungry or have lust.  Thirst is much the same way.  They are survival drives, one for your preservation, one for the preservation of the species.
If you want something badly we might say you hunger for it, or if you are obsessed (even non-sexually) that you lust for it.  Rarely want to be rude with your food?  So you do experiment now and then?

That'd probably fall into Desire or maybe on some level Pride. If you're jealous of someone, then you must want what they have. Which a Desire Demon would try and use against you.

In fact, I think a codex talking about Desire Demons -- be it the beastiary entry or some other magic related entry -- said they like to use jealousy.

I feel the same way. How is a Despair Demon going to be introduced? Will it be new? Will it just be handwaved as "oh they already knew about these demons" despite one codex saying that Enchanter Brahm's categorization of Demons as depending on which part of the psyche they prey upon holding true -- and only mentioning the five demons, going so far as to say "Last are such demons as Pride"?

Or will Despair Demons be a sub-category of already existing Demons? Will they have some interesting lore behind them in the sense of what Justice indicated about spirits and Demons? Would Cole be considered a Demon of Despair?

Very interesting idea for the despair demon, and with David's post I am certainly interested to see what is in store.

What if a Despair demon fed off both mortals and demons? Think about it, the lore suggests that the benevolent spirits are jealous/envious of what mortals have; whether that is because of daddy issues with the maker or just seeking the "stability" of the waking world is left up to the player. Now since demons want what mortals have and attempt to emulate them within the fade it would only be logical that a "force" like Despair would be drawn to mortals and demons alike. After all many demons would gladly live in the waking world for one day then spend untold thousands of years merely watching from the fade.

I would picture a Despair demon to function in essence like the Nothing of the Never Ending Story; a force as described by one of the characters as a DISPAIR eating the land of Fantasia. Despair is not an emotion persay, but it does have a draining effect on those it acts upon, and if a powerful ruler were to fall to despair the resulting impact could bring down nations.

*Edit And a quote from the Never Ending Story about why a Despair demon could be dangerous:

"People have have begung to lose hope and forget their dreams. And people who have no hope are easier to control."
