Boss Strategies: Rate the Scion's Deadliness!

Part of a series of threads for people to pour their advice into; specifically on how to effectively deal with bosses.
I also figured I'd jump on the "Rate the X" bandwagon while I'm at it :P

This thread is about killing Scions! :devil:

Weaknesses:
- Heashots
- Shooting the biotic sack on it's left shoulder (bursting said sack deals additional damage, as well as staggering the Scion)
- Vulnerable to staggering (For example, it's possible for a single N7 Slayer to completely stun-lock a Scion to death using Phase Disrupter + Biotic Charge)
- Safe-zone exists where player is too close for Scion to fire it's arm cannon, but too far away to be sync killed.
- Only performs sync-kills after finishing it's melee attack.
- Anti-armor abilities.
- Cobra missles.

WARNING: This may have been fixed, but last time I checked, the Scion's arm cannon completely ignores the N7 Paladin's omni-shield, so DO NOT try face-tanking scions with the N7 Paladin!
The Scion also apparently ignores power combo damage 50% of the time (first I've heard of it though <_<)

Post your Scion-pwning strategies below, and don't forget to rate the Scion!

Threat level:
Single Scion = 1/10
Multiple Scions = 0/10 to 8/10 (depending on how many missles I have left)
Multiple Scions, during hack/upload objective wave and 0 missles left = 11/10

Coolness:
7/10

Fear Factor:
6/10

oh come on now, the threat level for every enemy in the game is 0 if you have rockets to use on them.

also I see no mention of the 50/50 chance of ignoring power combo damage

Single Scion: 1/10. Only a risk if you screw up badly, fail to notice it, or fail to notice something else that can actually hit you.

Multiple Scions: 4/10. Soft cover and kill them. The only threat they pose is the amount of time it might take, and even that's not all that much.

Single Possessed Scion: 3/10. Might take a little longer to kill due to having to dodge around grenade scatter, but once you get to working them over all the grenades do is make them take longer to attack seriously.

Coolness factor: 3/10. Nifty cannon. Other than that, they're meatwalls with burstable blubber.

Fear Factor: 2/10. Lack of significant threat robs them of any fear, except for the shock of suddenly finding yourself right next to one when you didn't expect it. That's a little intimidating.

Scions only sync kill after they're done meleeing, so if you can dance fast enough, you can actually keep them from shooting. Also that melee staggers if it hits you. And it hurts.

from 1 to 10? lets see abominatons behind you while a scion is shooting you while another scion is throwing grenades at you. id say 3.

now if theres a praetorian shooting lasers at you while a scion shoots and another throws grenades while a possessed abomination is behind you 8.

10/10 if that praetorian is firing a missle barrage instead of the lasers.

Not a threat...until possessed and even then it just stands still. Pop those zits on its head.

Maybe it's just me, but when I've played as an engineer, I've noticed that the scions sometimes ignore the drone completely. I killed two in either a silver or a gold game just by throwing a drone out there and letting it do all the work. Did I just happen to get lucky, or is this an oversight with it?

A sharpshooter with a high-powered rifle (i.e., Widow, Black Widow, Javelin; Harpoon Gun works as well but a bit slow) along with at least 1 other player to distract it (any assualt rifleman or biotic) can take it out quickly.

When do ever just face groups of Scions? Like Ravagers the danger they present is considerably more significant in normal play where you're actually facing another enemy and a Scion is able to see you.

Am I the only one who finds normal scions to be much worse than possessed ones? Those grenades are quite easy to dodge... The worst combination is a mix of possessed and not possessed ones.

That said, their melee is freakinly slow. A krogan can charge, and by the way the scion's started his melee, the krogan will be on the other side of the map, if he backpedals... Definitely a weakness.

All in all, I'd say 6/10.

I didn't even realise they had sync-kills until one time I got overly cocky with my Kroguard and kept charging/heavy meleeing  them.

To say I was surprised would be putting it mildly.

That's because their melee hit so freakinly hard that pretty much eveyr character but a kroguard/broguard will go down by that :lol:

A lot of people here don't seem threatened by scions. They are the HIGHEST priority on my things to kill list because praetorians and other critters get in front of them and they can be devastating if left alone or unseen while you're fighting things.

I hate Scions the most. Praetorians aren't bad IMO, I would rather deal with 2 of them instead of 2 Scions. Remember, the Scion fires in bursts of 3. Sit behind cover and wait for the 3 shots. Then let them have it. A possessed one will fire the nades to flush you out of cover, then tag you with his normal fire.

The bodies of those Possessed Scions who were KIA should be dissected to obtain the technology allowing their cluster grenades to be SO MUCH MORE ACCURATE than the ones we got.
