I always put gear on for gold, and I expect others to do the same. Sure I could run it without any gear but in terms of increasing chance of success and simply making the game more fun (we do play this for fun right? not hoarding credits and saving consumables for a rainy day?) gear is a must.

It really kills me when I see people who don't even use a Gear Bonus.

If you do not have gear to use on gold (even level I stuff) then you are playing WRONG.

If you do have gear and refuse to use it (for whatever stupid reason) then your not going to be in my game.

let me ask this: what's keeping you from using consumables in the first place? do you get a special price when you hit maximum? do you wanna keep them in case titanium with sprinkles of diamond difficulty comes along?

After platinum is just recycled aluminum, all the elites know that Image IPB

I'm genuinely curious as to why people think consumable gear is a must if you're on gold and that you're a noob if you don't use them.

In my opinion, it's quite the opposite. Consumable gear is just a crutch that helps people with no skill limp through a match...

Are you saving them for a rainy day?

Honestly, I assume you're a noob if it's a PUG and I've never played with you. Everything you do to assure me this isn't the case is appreciated. You don't need to fill all three slots, but at least stick a damage booster on your gun if you're a weapon class or a power booster/cooldown helper if you're a power class.

EDIT: You also mentioned "skill"... do your consumables do all the aiming and shooting for you? Do they make the right call for you when in a tight spot? Hmm... I must find these consumables that enhance "skill".

Try a shot of tequila before you start a match.

Let me get this straight, if you use consumables, you have no skill and are a noob.  So are we just supposed to let them sit in our inventory and collect dust?

When I see people in our lobby not using consumables I think:

1. You are a leecher.
2. You are not a team player.
3. You are just there to get credits for challenges and usually quit when your done.
4. You are probably not going to do objects.
5. You are going to die a lot and bleedout because you don't want to use a consumable.
6. You won't use a missile either because its a consumable too.
7. Oh yeah, one last thing, you are more prone to rage quit.

So OP, if you joined my lobby, I would grit my teeth and expect to have to carry you and "limp" through a match because of you.

funny thing is when people like the OP here lose an argument that they fully believe in and after they still dont agree but try to save face with "oh... uhhh... ya guys i was trolling... ya thats it!!"

its like people caught with their pants down in public, then try to turn it into "i meant to do that" scenerio.

its really just a pathetic excuse to try to save face.

Do people understand that this whole thread is about one person calling another person a noob for not using consumables. It's not even worth discussing, as not using them isn't a sign of someone unfamiliar with the game, it's a sign of someone who doesn't care about their teams success.

No, you're the perfect example of what I'm trying to discuss: people who think a team's success hinges on everybody using consumable gear. I've carried my fair share of teams with no gear on. I've scored above OP classes with OP kits using OP consumable gears, with under-performing classes and no consumables on.

Example: 5 consecutive gold extractions with an ex-cerberus adept, no gear, scoring consistently between 100k~120k on unknown/known, and out-scoring (consistently) a kroguard with an AP reegar.

This is out of  point. The whole thread. And what if you are soooooo OP that you can outscore all players in MP? Where do you want to go? If you have consumables... why the hell dont you want to use them? If the match is lost and you had not even 1 consumable with you, may be all you can deliver the pizza using consumables.

I dont buy your theory about using consumables is like taking HGH in sports.

Even more, i think they are more likely as condoms... is better to have them and not need them, than need them and not having.

I wont ever call noob a player for not using consumables, cause maybe he doest have them. But have them and not use them... Image IPB

Why does OP tries to mix "gear" with "consumable" like such a thing exist? There is a gear slot and there are consumable slots...

And why does he complain nobody understands him?

OMG. Another cheap gamer looking for an excuse why he thinks it might still be ok to increase the risk of failure for the entire team and even if it went to full extraction being responsible for a longer time than necessary.

Just adding Incendiary Ammo for example allows you and your squadmates to detonate enemies with Fire Explosions. This fact alone should be enough to answer your question.

You could as well ask: why should I use my biotic or tech powers during the game? Real pros can finish a platinum match even with Level 1 characters and common weapons.

Edit after checking OP's manifest: he has an N7 rank of 69, unlocked only 6 rare and 0 ultra-weapons so far and he has nearly 0 consumables. So essentially we can close this thread, because he qualifies completely for the term "noob". He has 0 experience and thus no clue about the details of the game (which - since a good manual is missing for ME3 MP - is not his fault per se). But either the 10 pages in this thread could convince him by now or he is just a hopeless case.

Because one is permanent. If they were all permanent, this discussion wouldn't exist. It's about relying on something you might not always have.

Nobody's "relaying on" anything and really for a good gold player running out of consumables isn't a realistic possibility, for example i currently have enought ammos for the next 298(holy crap) matches all of witch are likely to earn me atleast 1 new ammo. So not using them is just pointless.

just going to state a question too.

so how does steam rolling with equipment, consumables, and gear on count as limping through a match?

btw
equipment is 1 mission use items.... armor/ammo/weapon items.
consumables are the items you can use several of while in game.... you know medigel and such.
gear is a non consumable buff that is retained after use.

so now that i have had to break that down for you.... how are you not a noob?

i know.. i know... how dare i ask that question. :P

actually since this is a team oriented game i have to say you got it backwards, it is people with your point of view that make PUG's a bad experience.

most common answer to not using equipment or consumables is "i dont care about people on my team", so go play solo then badass and let that team get someone actually usefull.

usually when i play with Pug's they usually lay around dead more often if they dont equip anything.
so i put on my stuff just to speed up the process of having to finish the waves with less people or by myself after i have collected the gold revive badge off of these "badass's" by wave 1.

i dont see how making one's self a better killer makes them a noob, seems quite the opposite to me.

i also have a hobby, its kicking non equipment/consumable users, its so much fun reading their tears on the forums when they post "why did i get kicked boohoo butthurt boohoo" :lol:

People have tried to kick me, because of the consumable thing but they rarely succeed. What i dont like is people like you who think its there duty to impose their galactic will of MUST USE CONSUMABLES mentality onto others who dont use consumables.

I have no idea why people don't use their consumables. They have stacks of them, but still don't use them.

If I see people using them before a game, I feel like the're taking it seriously and want to win. If the whole team aren't using any consumables, I usually leave.

all that means is you havent ever been in my lobby.

so why do you buy packs to updrade your weapons then? wouldnt that mean you are using such a crutch too.
putting on equipment makes your lvl 10 gun into like a lvl 12 or higher, so if thats the case then why buy packs then.
why put points in fitness? why take the weapon damage evolutions or anything that updrades your ability to kill and survive.

seriously your argument is just silly, but you can keep thinking that way i suppose.
but there is an old saying, well not really old but here it goes... "stupid is as stupid does" ....there now you know, apparently it is uncurable to.
so i apologize for making fun of you before, as its not your fault.

When I check people's loadouts and see that everyone is using level 3/4 consumables, I get the impression that they both know what they're doing and have the ability to make a difference in the game.

I have the ability to do well in a gold game, but I'm not good enough to carry a terrible team in a bunch of bad situations. If I see that no one is using any kind of equipment, that's a sign that I'm going to have to put in more than my fair share to ensure that I get my credit's worth. I'm not going to bother risking a sharp increase in time required and having to deal with people constantly bleeding out.

It's not about it being a crutch. It's about making sure that I have a higher chance of having a fun game and not being stressed out due to having to do most of the work so that these people that shouldn't be here get a large sum of credits.

Your forum name is quite appropriate.   I won't kick you, I will just leave the lobby if you are in a PUG.  In case you had not noticed it, a lot of people are judging the quality of randoms on if they use consumables or not.   Experience says that players that don't use consumables on gold are more likely to be leachers and not use medigel or rockets, and have a tendency to quit if they go down and are not revived.  That is just my experience from playing in PUG about 1/3 the time.

Real players only play level one characters with a raptor solo on platinum
