Obsession with Gear Consumables

Power based kits shouldn't have to equip a ammo or weapon bonus, however they should use an armor bonus (Power amp).
Weapon centered kits should equip a weapon and ammo bonus, but it is up to the player to use that cyclonic for extra durability.

OK, I'll say it: in my experience, the people who use equipment are just out to ramp up their score. They're the ones I see the most not bother with objectives, or not be a team player.
It's funny how illogical these individuals are then, having invested a JEP worth of equipment into a match not playing the match to win. Don't they know that's not sustainable?

Apparently the OP will say anything to defend his argument no matter how stupid he sounds.

After all the "in my experience"s I've seen from all the other posters, when I say what my experience happens to me, it's "stupid". Yeah, OK.

Don't mind them, Sure to most people here, your philosphy does sound stupid to us. Most of us view equipment as the difference between using a car and a bike to get to where you want. Is a car a crutch if you don't know how to drive it? If you can manage well driving a car and riding a bike, would you not choose what's more fun and efficient for you?
We have our own ideals you have yours, but it's more of an issue when dealing with three other people in the team. It's more of a matter of "what is your responsibility to the team?" and most BSNers agree that using the best you could, is being responsible to the team. Doing well without consumables doesn't justify not using them.

Where do you people find these PUGs, anyway? I've had PUGs with players that are incompetent, amazingly stupid, or just bad. But in the ~1300 games I played the number of PUGs where I've had people willfully sabotage the objective rounds like that can be counted on the fingers of one quarian hand. It certainly hasn't happened often enough to get any correlation between equipment usage and doing objectives.
In my own experience, people who use equipment are usually the ones that have some experience and know how to supplement the strong and weak points of their character, and therefore generally more helpful.
Of course, that only applies if they're using the right equipment. I've seen people run Pistol Rail Amps while carrying only a shotgun, and Strength Enhancers on a volus. People who use the wrong equipment like that are likely to be completely useless.

I'm genuinely curious as to why people think consumable gear is a must if you're on gold and that you're a noob if you don't use them.
In my opinion, it's quite the opposite. Consumable gear is just a crutch that helps people with no skill limp through a match...
So, you wonder why people hold an opinion different than yours?
Both opinions are , quite frankly, equally incorrect and stupid.
Consumables are of zero utility sitting in your inventory screen unused. There is, quite simply, no way you can be 'better' playing without consumables than with them. To not use them out of some personal opinion that you are a better player without a crutch is , of course, your opinion -- but cannot be backed up with facts. Two people of EQUAL skill , one using consumables and one not, will demonstrate this. The person using consumables will be better. A person with no skills or weak skills using consumables is not going to match a skilled player without them, no matter if they're using top end everything.
On the other hand, judging people's SKILL by use of consumables is even perhaps more moronic. Their use will not make you situationally aware, or able to understand spawn points, or capable of knowing what weapons are useful and how to balance powers and everything else.
Some will raise the argument "not using them hurts the team." I disagree. The fact that I have lots of consumables in use merely means I am willing to expend them, which does not in turn mean I'm doing it to help the team. I could be burning them to pump my own score and be that jackass who runs around killing instead of sitting in the circle or watching the pizza.
The use of consumables increases the output of the character, not the player. The more realistic answer to your query is not that I find the lack of consumables evidence of being a 'n00b'. It's impossible for someone with a N7 rating of 3000+ and 8000+ in challenge points to be a n00b simply because they don't use consumables.
But given a choice between two players of which I know nothing about in terms of actual skill, I'd rather have someone with consumables than without. That 30% increase to damage might be what separates us squeaking through a round rather than wiping.
Finally , later on you said you don't find using consumables 'fun'. That's fine. However, in a co-operative game, your opinion will end up putting you at the mercy of the majority. If you take an opinion in opposition to what most people believe, being suprised at the fact that most will not agree and may not want to play with you should not be suprising.

You should`ve also post that
when is the time the consumables are better used.
I wonder if your only answer is "when you suck"

Sure, it doesn't make them any better personally. But it does make them do better, perform better, and handle threats and ambushes better. If you're playing a game where your screwup and death could lead to a game failure and the loss of credit rewards, the better player will do what they can do avoid that.
I won't apologize if my teammates are so bad that the entire match hinges on me. Though, it does sometimes, and I can still pull through.
Still though, as I said, I value actual skill determining my performance. It literally bothers me to use consumable gear because I know it's not me on that scoreboard, it's my consumables.
2pts! SGreenwell, seriously you had my husband staring at me like I'm an idiot bc you made me lol
So regarding using consumables:
I use them everytime all the time. Even if I play a lower difficulty (I usually only play Gold or Plat) becuase I feel like I have a ton of gear and it IS fun to me to use it. Armored Compartments?HELL YES. I want to shoot the rockets off and feel the power of missile glitching for a whole 8 rockets!
I love my consumables and Gear bonuses- I like to have any edge I can that is legitimate. I don't consider it a crutch whatsoever. I prefer to see people using consumables but I won't assume that they're noobs to use it or NOT using it. I'd like to at least see a Gear- it is resuable so why the hell not? Really. If you're only playing among your friends do whatever you want but when you're in a public lobby let's all do our best pretty please? It isn't that much to ask.
