All of the weapon damage upgrades and armor upgrades are numbered through 5. But it looks like with all the DLC, there are 6 and sometimes 7 of each upgrade. For the weapons, I'm not talking about the 2 extra upgrades (like penetration and extra rounds), just the damage increase. So my question is, since they're numbered through 5, should I bother spending money on upgrades when I come across them in shops, or wait and research them with resources (which I have a lot more of than money). Will it allow me to upgrade to 6/5 or 7/5 damage increase, or is it a waste of money? Thanks
Should I buy the 6th (or 7th) of 5 weapn damage upgrade?

When you get the upgrades it's reported as 6/6 or 7/7 and as far as I know you do get the additional increase. You can go further still with the save editor by getting some before you find them in play, though IIRC if you give yourself 5 upgrades before you actually earn any at all they stop at 10/10 and either you can't pick up the 11th upgrade you find or it just doesn't appear on the research list.
