^ SlipperyHammer, out of curiousity, what was it about Aller's hair that was too problematic for you?
(was once looking into altering/modifying Aller's hair as well, but I couldn't find a MAX or OBJ version of her hair online, unless I converted an XNALara Aller's model into a OBJ file and imported it into Lightwave just for the hair)

EDIT: Ok, tried adding Aller's hair to my WIP model as a test and.... yeah, it is so NOT reflective of Tali's personality, so I'll stick with modifying Miranda's hair (the curse of Diana Allers strikes again...). <_<

Yeah... My version of the Aller’s hair had a tendency to move around and react to all kinds of "skeletal bones".

All in all you might be better off with Miranda’s haircut for Tali Posted Image.

As for the importing issue; I'm still testing some of the results.

Progress on the "unhooded" version of the Tali model is going fairly well and is looking pretty good, in my opinion - I'm now considering not doing anything on modifying Tali's ears, bacause of how the hair covers those areas of her head, you don't see them anyway (so why take additional time remodeling something that you're not gonna see?).

Less good is my current progress on importing models from Lightwave into 3DS Max, since Lightwave's 3DS file export is, to put it mildly, f***ing broken <_< Lightwave's OBJ file export is also less impressive, but I am having more sucess exporting models in FBX format into 3DS Max, though that's a small plus. (and don't even get me started on trying the opposite and trying to export bones and scene animations from 3DS Max into Lightwave instead.... cause that's just a total clusterf****, let me tell you :pinched: )

In searching through texture files from ME3 character OBJ models that I found online (was looking for another image file for Miranda's hair), I did come across another type of an eyelash image that belongs to a "Jessica" (though I don't recall any major character in ME3 named that), but it's also the same eyelash file used by Miranda, Kasumi, and a few other female characters. Personally, I like it this type of lashes a lot more on Tali than the original lashes, but we'll see what the rest of you all think:

Note that I'm still testing textures on SlipperyHammer's original model (which doesn't have my updated nose) and scene file in 3DS Max, which has colored lights in it (which is why Tali's skin is somewhat lighter and has a slight hue to it).

That's an improvement... have you tryied with Jack's brows, like JeanLuc did for his HD textures?

(unless you did it already and I'm just too dumb to haven't noticed it :P)

It is an improvement.

But I just realized that she looks a little old... like in her late 30s. Maybe because her cheeks are too thin? Isn't she supposed to be 25 or so? I'm no artist, and I don't know how you can make her look younger, though...

A big part of that reason why she looks older is yes, her cheeks are too gaunt/thin right now, especially in comparision to the original BW photo:

Like her nose, I'm working on improving the modeling of her cheeks as well (as I said before, I'm just testing new texture work on the original model in 3DS Max).

EDIT:
Alienmorph: No, I haven't looked into using Jack's eyebrows, but I may try that next time I have PS open.

^ Um, no offense, but I already have a "Tali photo" reference (the pic I posted above).

Unless you're talking about skin/eye color reference, which I already sorta figured out, but as an anatomy reference, your pic is too small to gather as much detail in her face's anatomy from.

The smaller image does have far better colouring, though.

Would it be helpful to have the undoctored photo as well? While the Tali'fied picture is handy, the lens flare doesn't do much to see the ladies facial bone structure or facial musculature. The len's flare is rendering nearly half her face unseeable.

Source and a slightly modified version of the Tali photo with a little less flare.

Looks like the shape of the eye was changed as well. If you use the end of the near eyebrow you can see that the eye's have been pulled away from the centre and the eyelid's nearest to the centre of the face has been slanted

I think part of that is an optical illusion created by both the skin marking's above the eyelids and reducing the size of her nose compared to the original model (with the bridge of her nose smaller, it also makes her right eye look somewhat further spread across her face than her left eye, which isn't noticable in the final image due to that cheap lens-flare hiding the right side of her face).

She does appear to have hollows on the inner side of the eyelid though. Most likely more markings.

Yup. A nice attempt but that could definately use many improvements. Still better than what I could do, though, thats for sure xD

Finally figured out what I was doing wrong with Lightwave's OBJ Export and corrected it, so I'm now able to properly export Tali back into 3DS Max as an OBJ model file (and a good thing too, cause I found out that the previous FBX export was seriously screwing up the scale of the models into 3DS Max....). Now all I have to do is figure out how to swap out SlipperHammer's model/s mesh with my own model in order to keep all the same bones and rigging as his original model...

On the modeling sides of things, I'm still working on her hair, but I did fill out Tali's cheeks a bit to give her more of a younger appearance and reduced the size of her nose in comparision to SlipperyHammer's original model.

I also tried out Jack's eyebrows on her face texture instead of the other ones and with a few tweaks in PS, I think they came out well (still need to lengthen her forehead's skin marking up into her scalp and improve her hairline):

Just a very quick update to add (which I forgot to do when I made that screenshot in my last post):

In order to reduce some of the similarity of Tali's hair from Miranda's (so it's not too much of a case of deja vu to people), I've now mirrored Tali's hair so that the geometry's "flipped' and now the hair strands are on the reverse side of the head than what Miranda's hair was (kinda like how the hair of Maya Brooks is the flipped version of Ashley's hair).

Awesome job AVPen! Sent a reply to your msg.

And to everyone else, I'm working on another video update on the progress of the Tali mod. It should be out this week (or next week at the latest).

Cya all later

Amazing results xD. Would be interesting to see screenshots with realistic lightning and some background. Somehow your model looks older than Tali/Kohistani in the picture, but probably it's the lightning.
