It's getting pretty close to where I want it - I thought the color correction on the last comp was rather overboard, so I toned it down a bit, trying to add color tones from the light/enviroment to the skin without destorying her grey skin tone.

I know the EC cut picture was pretty pale, but I also don't recall anyone being to crazy about that one either..
People liked the one on the desk, they just hated how LAZY bioware was about it.
But the size of the head looks great now, just needs a bit more color.
That is just my opinion. I like the pinker skin much more. She is really cute now though!

I just think it is a shame that Garrus and Tali were really the only ones that didn't get a proper sex scene...

Honestly for me, it's not about what people are "crazy for" - it's to best represent Tali in a 3D model based on her appearance in the photoshop'd pic and on the unmasked quarians from the EC slide. Ultimately, I think that the sad truth is no matter what I or SlipperyHammer do, no one is going to be 100% satisfied with our 3D renditions of Tali unmasked (as I found out earlier via PM...) because everyone's has had their own idea of what Tali and the quarians look like for the last 5-6 years.A_Pissed_Iguana wrote...

I'm using both the BW'shoped photo and the EC slide pic as my guidelines as to what quarian physiology is like and, because the EC slide was created later than the (frankly crappy) Tali photo, I'm using that as my final reference for Tali's skin tone (since it is technically both a 3D representation of unmasked quarians and is BioWare's final say on the quarian's physical appearance).
I ran into some issues and problems with creating a nude quarian body (which writing that out makes it sound rather perverted, lolA_Pissed_Iguana wrote...
Also, you weren't by any chance going to make a model with...*ehem* less clothing were you? (like miranda in the ME2 love scene?

I'd still use the animations from the FemShep/Kaidan romance scene in ME3, since I think it's a well-done scene and the FemShep animations also works well for Tali's personality (based on what we saw in ME2, lol). However, I think I'd change it so that Shepard doesn't have a shirt-uniform top on, but still has his pants during the scene.
After all, it would look outta place if Shepard was in his boxers while Tali still has most of her suit on.... I'm probably giving this scene more thought than it needs, perhaps.

Good point. Don't get me wrong, I 90% support your work, and love it to death, just wish she had a bit more color. But I totally respect your position on it and think you should continue doing what YOU planned.
I ran into some issues and problems with creating a nude quarian body (which writing that out makes it sound rather perverted, lol
), so I'm looking into an alternative where Tali has areas of her suit "opened up" instead - so, yes, it would kinda be like the Miranda scene in ME2.

And yes, it does feel weird writing this out, but I know it would be a dream come true for tali fans...
And no, I don't think you are thinking too much into it. The fact that you did think of it shows that you are dedicated to giving this character the VISUAL presence and reveal in the game that she deserved to have to begin with.
Any idea when these will be out? Because DAMN, now I really want them. Especially the romance one...
Do you even have a start on that one? if so, POST! (please).

That's more SlipperyHammer's department, I believe - he was the one working to get his Tali model into the game itself (where I'm currently looking to just animate it directly in 3DS Max).WarrantyVoider wrote...
Hey Slippery or AVPen, do you have a current PSK for me with only one material, so I can test a few things out?

(Also, isn't that just the game's Tali model but with her visor removed in your test vid?)

This probably has been discussed already, but will that model of Tali be getting hair AVPen? It's a wonderful looking model, but frankly bald women terrify me and I view Tali with that big mess of hair she has on her official photo ingame.

I'll refer you to SlipperyHammer's response to my asking the exact opposite...

That she is shown bald here is a technicality, as making a full-fledged head-mesh is the first step to properly implementing her face in-game. Hair-mesh comes after.
Can't say I'd mind her bald, though, somewhat more 'non-human' in an original sense.

Then no, she doesn't show any hair here - she removed her visor, not her helmet, so her hair is still in place underneath her helmet and with the camera's angle, you can't see the sides of her head anyway.
As a side note, I always thought that Tairis Deamhan gave the best explaination for how Tali's hair was held in place in his "Razor's Edge" fanfic, explaining that her hair is pulled back and kept perfectly in place inside her helmet through a vacuum system.
However, the updated portrait that she gives Shepard will show her with her hair out and the "unbuckled-suit" model (for the love scene that I'm planning on at some point) will have her hair out as well.
As I said in that post, too, I do think the final version of the hooded-unmasked Tali model should still have the sides of her helmet present on the model - I think SlipperyHammer said he was gonna tweak the model at some point, but right now he's focused on getting the model into the game itself.Chashan wrote...

I just want to say great work so far and I can't wait to see the finished product. I understand you or someone else is working on a fixed photo for Shep's cabin as well?
Keep up the great work. Whatever you decide to go with be proud. You have the courage to do what Bioware could not. Sure everyone has an idea of how Tali should look but I think we can all agree Bioware dropped the ball and we now have to rely on fans like you to do the work for them. For that, I am eternally grateful.

I'm sure BW had a model of the face that was unrendered beneath the mask.
And this version is of Tali from the photo.
Would compmaring her two faces help in bringing elements of her appearence more in line with both her photo and in game appearence. I.e. the face that has been created has the eye's appear to be placed, spaced and slanted as an average humans would. But that blk file implies that her eye's are either, smaller, further spaced, pupils are smaller, her brow flows further into her nose. etc.
I'm just wondering if BW went off on a tangent creating the photo of Tali rather than incorporating element's of her existing design into a wire framed render. After all. That photo is a photoshop peice of work that uses a human as the base model. Not Tali's actual face, from what we can see through her mask, in the game.
Maybe it's time to go off script with the photo a bit and use what you have to bring elements of Tali's in game visage to bear.
On the other hand. Don't let the man keep you from doing what you do. That pic of Tali above is more than I had from a year ago and hit's the mark exactly where I'd have chosen to show Tali's face.
*edit* Youtubing LI's intro in Citadel DLC I noticed the soldier's all used gun's, biotic's used biotics, And Tali pretended to have a gun, holding nothing but thin air, and still killed two guy's to save Shepard. Dat Girl!
(Probably a asset failure to assign her a firearm while her Omni tool was active. But i like the idea she can simply point a finger and kill a man).

And of course more progress from WV (Gotta love the "stickman"
