Ba bump.

And my head canon's always associated Tali with Purple skin, due in no small part to Tali herself over the course of the games.

And while I know there is a 'definitive grey' because of a slide in the ending. I can't help but feel, that because BW did not put the resources into creating an unsuited Qurian during the time of the game, they have forfeited their right to decide for us.

After all, this mod is not official BW but came about because BW did not cater to gamer desire for in game content. If they had included a Tali face, we wouldn't be hanging on this thread, waiting for the next update.

Tali's face reveal could have been an incredibly poigniant moment in the gamer's relationship with the character. But was sidestepped rather than addressed.

As for skin colouration? Let's just say that Grey and Purple is the Quarian equivalent to Black and White. Otherwise we'll be arguing forever about the finer points of skin tone.

I think this mod is great. Will never see it as I have ME on xBox, but one day in the far flung future, if I ever game on a PC and go back to pulling the series out of a bin in a store, then playing it again, I would absolutely use a mod like this. 100% better than the base game.

Hey, and Tali wasn't even my LI :D

One little issue with the face model. Um, well... Quarian ears don't actually look like human ears do. I could tell when she looked straight at the camera that her ears were actually human-like, but that isn't how it should be. I get the feeling that the ears should be smaller then human ears, probably more like little nubs then full on ear lobes like we have. Or at least that's the vibe I get from the brief description we get in the books.

Granted this is a minor thing seeing as you can barely see the ears anyway because it takes her facing directly toward you to even notice them, and I doubt most ME fans even read the books to know this. So I guess it isn't high priority, even if I think it should be changed.

Posted this on the youtube vid but posting it here too:

Nice work, but why would she have purple skin? To my understanding it is only the color of her helmet glass that is purple shaded. Not her face. If you look at the picture she gives Shep in the end of the game if you romance her, she has "normal" skin color like any human would. Doesn't make sense giving her purple skin.

This looks purple to me-

I like that the mod actually is sticking to the look of the maskless Quarian in that picture, the lore is being stuck to well here.

Can't believe I only just found out about this. Absolutely fantastic work and I can't wait to see the final results. It's pretty cool that they already have her mouth synced with the words (unless it is synced to when the flashlight on her helmet blinks instead). Best of luck with the final touches!

I don't know if anyone posted this, but some people already did faceless Tali for the modelling program XNALara...dunno if this could be ported over to the mod scene...but here you go...

Tali Unmasked

Tali in Undies (for romance scenes)

Hope that helps someone...

EDIT: it's REALLY wierd to see human versions of the asari, haha.

Howdy All!

Been a while since I responded to this thread, sorry about the delay.
Unfortunately I have nothing new to show. Been busy with Uni and working on other projects.
I will be back to do some modding soon, I just need to more time to properly get back in the thinking process needed for importing models in ME3.

Very good! However, there might be a bit of a snag with that model:
Due to the rigging needed for Tali to work within the game, then that model needs to be rigged in the exactly same way as the original Tali (Otherwise you might get a very interesting result (if it worked)). So far I have not seen a model from Xnalara with anything that looks like the original rigging from ME3. And it's one thing to rig and arm, so it behaves like and arm. Compared to rigging a whole face, so it corresponds with the controls from the game (You can already see that my model is having some issues on that front Image IPB)

In theory though, yes. That mesh could work within the game Image IPB.

I will be back once I have enough time to get back into importing models in ME3. Image IPB

I am assuming that the "Final Cut Ending Project" used XNALara to script the scenes, which were then added into the video footage.

I don't know if this is possible, but I suppose one could create a "helmet" for Tali with a face in place of the glass.  The idea could be to leave the rest of the model alone.

Or perhaps one could cut and paste a modded Kasumi together with Tali.  Something tells me neither method will work, as the conflicting meshes might cause shenanigans.

Sooo, no idea how things are progressing, but did you see that Getorex (who's edited a lot of ME 3 character meshes so far) has started working on giving Tali a face? He mentioned issues with the weighting as well, but seems to be making progress. Maybe his "issue-free" Tali mesh could be used as a base for the face you designed, once he's done with it?
His progress info starts here social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/368/index/16638594/38#17577355

Making a video update on the progress of the mod. Will post in on YouTube later today / tomorrow.

Getorex seems to be having luck with the weighting of the model, which is awesome. However, I think both of us have our own ways of creating the model, so some errors on my model might not show on his, and vice versa.

Having said that, I would recommend you all to have a look over at Getorex thread. Some awesome work can be found there Image IPB! Give his Tali model a go Image IPB!

Cya later! Image IPB

Thank you Slippery. I apologize if I stepped on your toes on this at all. I honestly hadn't known you were doing anything with it, at least in recent times.

Just for general info, I did end up using the above-entioned XNALara tali face, acquired with permission from the artist at DeviantArts website. That face is purple tinted. I had also used (briefly) my oen variant that had a gold tone. For mine at least, the actual skin color of the face texture is largely irrelevant as I am leaving the tinted visor in place, just reducing its opacity. The visor itself has a blue-purple tint that applies to the skin underneath such that the actual skintone or color is nearly irrelevant. With respect to Slippery here, I would assume he would experience the same situation. The only point at which actual skintone would matter is with the visor completely removed.

And...Slippery, thanks for the DM. From what you wrote it is WELL beyond my abilities to even make the minor change to the Rannoch ending animation, let alone try and get it back into the game if I did. I had hoped it would be exportable as a .psa file, edited, then imported as a .psa file but no such luck. It isn't exportable as a psa at all (cannot find it via psa viewer) and I see importing isn't supported by me3explorer anyway.

Howdy all!

Here's the Christmas update:

Image IPB

@Getorex
No toes stepped on mate Image IPB. I'm glad that more people are working on mods for the game Image IPB! I've linked back to your thread in the video above.
Shame that Bioware will/can't give more support to modders in general. But such is life Image IPB... We shall persevere Image IPB

@Everyone
Merry Christmas Image IPB!

Still not dead, just dealing with a lot of family issues and other crap these last few months, lol.

I did have a pretty decent unhooded Tali model all set up in Lightwave, buttttttttt...... the OBJ import from Lightwave into 3DSMax is seriously borked (texture maps get messed up, all of the weight maps for the bones are gone, etc), so I'm going to have to dig deeper and learn more about 3DSMax so I can recreate an unhooded Tali (and an unbuckled Tali) directly from within 3DSMax instead.

I'm assuming this is still being worked on, though maybe just fallen from primary focus due to real life getting in the way. Looking awesome, though Tali talking in the last Christmas update was fairly terrifying. :)
