I just checked again, and yes, talis skeleton still has all bones for the head in place. As I said a few times before: ppl help me on this one and we can easily import whatever we want:
me3explorer.freeforums.org/post826.html#p826
also I noticed that the ingame model already has a face, or does anyone not see the mesh in BioH_Tali_00.pcc? here a pic: img194.imageshack.us/img194/3617/talifacey.jpg
so maybe just remove the helmet? also animations are in work, but this also will take a while...

The only part of the model that animates is the eyes; as your image shows there is no mouth on the model.

If the entire mask is removed for a cutscene, the removable part does cover the mouth, a mouth would have to be added to the current model.

Here's a different picture of what is actually present for Tali's face in the game.  This is the texture that is overlaid on the part of the model you mention.

I think it is not a secret that there is some part of the face originally. Problem is, it's only behind the visor. Also, correct me if I am wrong - unless that original part is very well made, it may just be easier to redo everything using some default face that already has morphs.

Unless I missed, SlipperyHammer has yet to reveal what is the current face based on, but I always assumed that it was made from some prefab modified based on original and canon picture.

@SlipperyHammer - Who is she modeled after? Stop testing our patience :o

Unfortunately, console gamers can't benefit from this. Oh, well. Regardless, it kinda burns my ass when I think of all the effort EAware took into rendering the face of an IGN employee into the game, as opposed to creating a proper face for a character that has been in the series since the first game, and is way more important. I do take solace in the fact that said IGN employee ended up looking like Snooki instead, LOL.

Sorry I'm not going to read through all the pages, so if I'm repeating an idea, bear with me: there's no facial animation for Tali. Even if we were to create a face mesh, it would just be another mask.

It's based on the "Canon picture" (the one that she gives Shepard).

And I've done a test convert over to a .psk file format using the actor X plugin. Give it a test and see if you guys can get any result (I'm not very good at the implementation part).

And a reminder before you start: Backup Everything!

Here's the link to mediafire for the .PSK-files:

You're eons late, we've already discussed this issue and your comment is ultimately unhelpful because you didn't read through the pages. : P

Cheers WV, Always happy to hear more updates on the Explorer tool Posted Image!

However, would it be possible for you to create a short tutorial that goes through all the steps in importing a mesh to ME3? I can edit meshes just fine, but I’m a bit slow when it comes to understanding the importing and replacing process.

So basically I’m asking you to hold my hand and guide me along the path of enlightenment Posted Image.

Also cheers to everyone who are helping along with importing and trying out the Tali model Posted Image!

Much, much thanks to SlipperyHammer for all his work on this model - I'm currently working off the OBJ version in Lightwave to create a version of Tali unmasked without her hood/helmet so that I can create a better version of that Tali portrait that she gives Shepard, one that's based off her actual 3D face (and not just a lazy Photoshop'd pic...).

Also, a slight note that I've recently observed in the game - looking more closely at that same Photoshop'd photo that BW made (using Flycam to get in real close), it appears that Tali's irises actually have a golden hue for their color and are not pure white.

EDIT: For those interested, what do you think I should do about Tali's hair? Keep it that same long-style like what was done in the BW photo or give her a shorter haircut?

Go with the long hair, as it's the canon appearance of Tali. Just because folk are updating the game to show her better, doesn't mean their vision of her needs alterations :)

Or you could show her crying, wind in her hair, as she speeds to the valley floor.

I personally prefer shorter hair, however longer hair is canon so you should probably go with that.

Yeah, that's what I'm gonna end up going with (though she does look cute with Femshep's ponytail hair-style) - of the female hair styles in the game, the only one that sorta matches Tail's hair in the BW photo is Miranda's, so that's what I'm planning to use for a base.

I personally would have liked it if they made Tali or any Quarian look like this guy's rendering of his wife's fan art of tali's face (with the proper alterations to her eyes of course and model the face after the voice actress like they did with Miranda).

since you are likely going with the crappy $5 photoshop job, I will say change the skin color to something that would go with the lore.  the light pink color looks a little too human and healthy for an alien race that has been depriveved of exposure to natural lighting and any natural air (that sounds insanely ignorant of me).  personally I would go with a white or gray-ish skin color, but your welcome to do what you want, don't listen to some nerdy knit-picky 25-year-old that still lives with his parents.

Tried to import this today using the .psk you shared Slippery, but my syncro license has expired and I might have an outdated version of ME3 Explorer. I tried downloading the latest publicly available version. (Updating might fix the below issue.)

I keep trying to follow the instructions WV provided but I get "index was out of range, must be non-negative and less than size of the collection." Importation hangs at "vertices and UVs."

I'm doing something wrong somewhere fundamentally, but I'm not sure where to start.

EDIT: "BioH_Tali_00.pcc" in CookedPCConsole is the location of the mesh I was trying to edit.

EDIT: I have the latest revision of ME3 Explorer now, trying again.

EDIT: Didn't get an import error this time, but Origin insists on updating. We'll have to see what happened shortly.

EDIT: Had to do a bunch of modding updates to enable flycam, did a repair I didn't bother to update again. Tali on the Normandy seems to be the same model. Gonna try updating a few more .pccs.

EDIT: Trying "BioH_Tali_01.pcc" now.

EDIT: Tried loading the geth dreadnought mission now. It crashed. Guessing that's where Tali's affected in BioH_Tali_00/01 is. PCConsoleTOCbin is updated too.

HMMMMMM.

EDIT: I get the index error trying to check on the model I imported. -_- Wonder if this has to do with net framework, since I got a message that that crashed...

EDIT: Luckily, I backed up my files and can just try importing again. Hmm. Seems to work and gives me a log of stuff that changed, but it flashes by. Then I try to to update PCConsoleTOCBin, but it doesn't work when I try it. Gives me the impression something breaks even though it says done. Need to restart ME3 Explorer to change the PCConsoleTOCbin

Also I didn't get any notification that I needed to get the .exe to get a texture, and she's blue and white. Hmmm.

EDIT: Edited BioH_Tali_01 doesn't seem to affect geth dreadnought mission. So it seems BioH_Tali_00 does.

EDIT: Hmm, says "destination array is not long enough to copy all items in the collection. check array index and length." Doesn't sound...inherently bad. >_> (When I check BioH_Tali_01 import.)

Posted Image

EDIT: Yep, BioH_Tali_00 is involved on the geth dreadnought mission, because editing it guarantees a crash!

EDIT: hurr hurr : "BioH (henchmen)"

https://encrypted-tb...XoFB6wUG6Nwvcvc

EDIT: Let's try literally anything!

BioH_Tali_00_NC.pcc has JUST a Tali model. Let's try updating that.

EDIT: Still crashes.

EDIT: BioH_Tali_00_Explore.pcc doing that now, hm...crashes. (Right now I'm wondering if all these models need to match or something. Although I guess this is just different loading for different scenarios.)

BioH_Tali_00_Explore_LOC_INT.pcc is empty in terms of models. So is BioH_Tali_00_LOC_INT.pcc

Hm.

Yeah I'm doing something wrong or have a wrong setting somewhere.

EDIT: ...if I visit Meshplorer and do NOTHING, then go to update PCConsoleTOCbin, it won't work. ...Odd...

EDIT: Screwing with the LOD upon import, I see weird giant lines through the model on LOD 1. Also I am unsure of how to get to the menu to change material. I am doing all the wrong things.

Think I'm done for tonight.

EDIT: Been using the no mask PSK, just an FYI for anyone who wants to try and mess with anything.

you need to match the material count, I forgot to tell that, sorry^^ but please put such valuable debug information in our forum, so we can dissect it better. Also I noticed that there are no influences applied, or at least I didnt see them in 3ds... I wish I had time to dig deeper into this, but uni gets first place attention...

greetz WV

PS:also you have my skypename, why didnt you asked for help?!^^

Ahh. Yes, that looks like a crucial part of the puzzle.

I'll post a thread about Tali import on the forum a bit later.

And sure WV, of course. School > ME3.

I was going to ask for help actually, but you and me just weren't online at the same time and I wanted to stop putting off the importing. >_>

Go long hair. I really love that tussled effect in the photo that implies it never get's combed when it's hooded over.
