As I'm only going to play through this game once, I'd like to know what everyone though the best origin story was. Thanks. Doesn't matter to me whether I play as rich/poor human elf or dwarf.
What's the best origin story?

I recommend playing through each origin, and then choosing the one you feel most compelled to complete. Each one only takes about an hour.

Human Noble and City Elf are my personal favorites. Both give you very good reasons to want to see the game through to the end.

You can't go wrong with either Human Noble, Dwarf Noble or City Elf. The origin itself is fun and they have far reaching effects in the story.

I hear that the Dwarf Noble origin is very good. I played the Human Noble and City Elf origin and I thought that the City Elf story was more enjoyable than the Human Noble, IMO.

Dwarf noble made me go: "omg i got totally snowed! That is AWESOME!"
Human made me go "nooooooooo!!!!" (in a good way)
City elf female made me go "BUTT KICKING FOR GOODNESS!"
Dalish Elf made me go "Just call me xenophobe"
Mage made me go "Get me out of this hellhole!"
Dwarf commoner made me go "FREEEEEEDDOOOOMMM!"
take your pick ><

Human noble was very well-done, emotionally packed.
Dwarven Noble was the most in-depth and lengthy.
City Elf was also well-done, and *really* gave you a pretty good reason to be angry.
Mage Origin is pretty interesting for the fact that they put you into the Fade straight away, awesome place.
Haven't tried Dwarf commoner yet.
Dalish Elf? I can understand it being a bit weak...but there is an interesting thing to happen later in the game because of it : )

Dwarf Noble- 10/10- long and awesome story!
Human Noble- 9/10- great story very repetitive combat
Mage- 9/10- Good story, cool areas, interesting and varied fights, but not much emotion. No real drive for you character.
Dwarf Commoner- 7.5/10- short, decent story.
City Elf- 7.5/10- Good story, but LAME dungeon crawl
Dalish Elf- 4/10- BORING! Just a big let down in what could have been an awesome origin.

To date I've done
Human male noble Warrior -- too predictable
Human female Mage -- I've just been sucker-punched!
Dwarf male casteless Rogue -- intriguing!
Dwarf female noble Rogue -- I tended to lose track on The Mission amidst my fantasies of suitable revenge on the SOB that framed me.

I'm sorry but I have to ask, why? if you haven't even played the game yet how can you decide whether you want to play it again?
but, that aside I'd second the recomendation of playing each Origin and then stick with the one you enjoyed best. they all have their strong points. force me to chose though and I'd say female city elf, but it's a close call

This! The origins are all fairly short, and all *save the dalish* worth playing. Playing through the origins is a great intro to the game.

The origins in this game are each really well done. They're all good but I think the dwarf ones impressed me the most.

I really liked the city elf, very original... didn't liked the mage origin I think it was kind of long and boring.
I also liked the human noble.

So far I'm impressed with everything I saw. I have yet to decide, time to play some more I guess.

Hehe I've played through every single origin as both male and female... I've gone on to finish five of those.... and that's when my wife actually stops playing long enough to let me play. It's technically her game... I'm going to have to go buy another copy just to stay out of divorce court.

Not a bad idea but I have to say I LOVE human noble. I've played all the origins and the human noble hands down for me.

My first Origin was the noble dwarf. And it was so great, that I stuck with it until the end. After that I played all the other Origins, but none could top the dwarf.
But I'm going to play it with several charakters. Two are through and 2 are on their way. But now I wait until 'Return to Ostagar'.

Dwarf Noble probably the best. Human noble the most overrated. City elf and Mage is alright. Dalish elf gets a lot of flack, but I don't think it's that bad

If you are only going to play through once then roll a mage because it is the most fun class to play as. The mage orgin isn't the best story, but being able to use magic more then makes up for it.
