I want a permanent one like IN DAO who I can talk to and who loves me no matter what I did. Also the one in DA2 looked...weird, somehow, so I don't want it to be like that.

I think it was better in DA2. This way you didn't have to use up a slot for a companion and you only had to summon the dog instead. Extra companion!

Hm, my vote is for having a Mabari as a summon, rather than a companion that takes up a party slot. In DA:O I always swapped out Dog once I got to Lothering in favor of Leliana or Sten. There's only so much interaction you can have with Dog; I'd rather spend time building approval or triggering banter with non-canine party members.

I love having dog but I'd trade him for a pet griffon or dragon or wyvern as a change of pace.

As I said before, Dog rules the internetz.

Mabari hound as summoned pet was one of the few things in dragon age 2 that was a better idea then dragon age origins

Mabari hound? No.
A saber tooth tiger named Sir Pounce A Lot? Hell yes!

I love the Mabari, I would like it if we could have one as a full-fledged party member, like in DA:O. It would be nice also if you could customise the colour of their coat to a degree. In the advertisements for the Black Emporium DLC, the mabari was black with red warpaint.

Mabari as a summoned pet, and a Gaint spider who can shoot fireballs out of his mouth as a companion and LI.

Why is there not a cat option?!

I'm just getting tired of every mabari we own looking and acting the same. We keep seeing and hearing of mabari with different colors, genders and personalities, yet we keep getting the same brown male jokester. For once I would like a mabari that's black, white, female, serious, vicious, and/or no-nonsense. Anything but another xeroxed copy of DA:O's Mabari.

I loved the summonable dog.
Granted, I'd have loved it a whole lot less if it weren't for all the interactions it can have with the rest of the cast. Even if they were restricted to the house(s).

See sig for two of my favorite 'little moments' in DA:O. Doggy is the bomb, but you don't have to take my word for it. From this codex entry after completing Witch Hunt:
If it's the Warden, or the Warden-Commander: He has returned to your side after some time spent in the kennels in Denerim. Ferelden lost many of its war dogs during the Blight
and kennel masters selected your prized hound to strengthen their
packs. He has been mated with female hounds from all over Ferelden and
has sired several litters of puppies.
Saves Ferelden, makes all the puppies. Getting a Doggy puppy that you take and raise throughout the game would more than satisfy my DA:O nostalga needs.

I would like to see him back as a summon like in DA2 as he was too weak to take up a party slot that could be used for a better companion

I liked Dog in DA:O, but I preferred him as a summon, like he was in DA2. I liked that I could still interact with him at my home base, but he didn't take up a party slot when I was adventuring.
That said, I'd rather get something different for the next game. Especially if our PC is not Fereldan, and if no part of the game takes place in Ferelden. It probably wouldn't make much sense for a non-Fereldan to be hanging around with a mabari. Maybe a hunting dog of some kind instead?
Or a summonable pug.

If he's going to be a summoned pet, then I want upgraades, let me interact with him as a companion and customize him as a dps or tank summon.

I very rarely used the mabari in both DAO and DA2.
If Bioware wants me to use the Dog then they will have to give me better talents and better reasons like quests that require a mabari.

If the Mabari had been a regular companion, my battle against the Arishok would have been even longer.

I loved that I can summon him when I want and he doesn't need an extra slot like in DA:O. I still want interact with him in a camp or house or anywhere. And I want others to interact with him too. But I would like to upgrade him, give him a collar and tatoo's and see it in-game.
Well, I think it doesn't matter if our PC is not a Fereldan and the story is in a different country. Some Fereldan was on a trip and died and we found his puppy - so ta-da, we've got ourselves a mabari.

So long as it makes sense for the PC to have a mabari, sure.
But since it'd stretch my suspension of disbelief a bit if every PC is going to have a mabari sidekick, why not give it to a companion this time? An Ash Warrior or something.

Well, that wouldn't be a pet... would be? O.o

I never used the dog in the game, though the interactions with the NPCs and the dog were nice.
However, having a Mabari is supposed to be a rare thing and its a very Ferelden thing to do. So I can't really imagine a reason we would have one in Orlais.
