I'd prefer Spirits actually.
So tired of demons in every game I play.
With so many demons - why aren't there exorcists in this world? Now that - I'd play.

If they would introduce Clerics or Paladins in DA, you would have such a char.

You don't need a cleric or paladin though - there are exorcists in nearly every world religion.
And since mages get traditional clerical stuff - they should get this stuff too.

They are called Templars, they are just a bit more literal when they "smite"

Greed Demon - tries to steel your stuff; commonly found sitting on a pile of riches; prefers to target merchants, thieves and corrupt politicians.

We have desire(lust), sloth, rage(wrath), hunger(gluttony), and pride. Why not complete the set? Make a demon of jealousy and a demon of greed. The demon of jealousy could be attracted to those who envy and aspire to greater things out of impure desires, driving them to do whatever it takes to get what they want. The greed demon could be for those who fear losing something, and would drive people to horde whatever they have to the point of madness.
Despair would be good as well, as would fear.

Can't believe no one has mentioned a troll demon man, that would be hilarious. But on a more serious note i do think completing the seven sin set with jealousy and greed could be interesting though they might overlap with other demons too much. Despair sounds interesting but i think a demon of pain or suffering might make more sense.

A demon that is not very interested in the mortal affairs in particular but still is curious of things and questioning, Demon that is intelligent and strong. A demon that doesn't feed of the emotions of people, but rather devours other demons and spirits in the fade and feasts on their power. A demon that has a bright range of emotions attached to it, not because it is capable of them like humans, but because it tasted many by feeding on other demons and spirits, and has plenty more to learn and experience.
Demon of.. Purpose (?)
As it is in search of it more so than any other demon.
Potential companion for the player in form of possession. This demon would possess the player and share it's powers, would like to actually know the player more, to view player actions, to look deeper into the human world without interfering, as it doesn't have it's own motives for doing anything. Maybe even a platonic "soulmate".
How about that?
