I did play him; so did the best player on PC (Jay_Hoxtatron); we both think he is bad.
Let's be honest about the Turian Engineer...He is not a good character.

OK. What exactly is so fantastic about the Turian Engineer? what can he do that no one else can? What can he do that could even be called exceptional?

Turret for shock/distraction (don't care about cooldown cuz it doesn't honestly die that often)
Homing Grenade a target, THEN sabotage it, so that the tech vuln will activate while homing is on its way to target. THEN riddle it with bullets.
Rinse, lather, repeat?
I tested the class on Glacier. Threw the turret down the stairs, stayed up. It was against the Geth on Silver.
The turret couldn't stay up longer than two seconds before it was taken down by the geth down there.
With a 200% loadout, Sabotage has a decent enough respawn time, it was about two seconds or so. I could spam it.
Maybe my team was too good or my powers took to long to kill anything. Relying on powers, at any rate, would have gotten me close to 0 points. All my points came from actually shooting things. I think throughout the whole game, the turret accumulated 3 mook kills and that's it.
I'll not play this class again any time soon. Both Sabotage and Turret were evolved to 6 btw. On the turret, I took damage, AP ammo and flamethrower.
The buffs to the Asari Huntress also looked respectable on paper, but the first buff is on the alternative to cloak duration, and I always go for duration. And the second buff is on the alternative to bonus power, which is the bread and butter of this class (cloak, dark channel, warp, go back into hard cover during decloak). So I respecced my huntress to try the damage instead. The rationale was that you'd get around 100% damage boost on your dark channel from cloak. Sounded good but did not play out at all for me. I'll give it a few more games to get used to it, but basically if the DC + warp isn't part of the cloaked bonus power, I'll never actually get around to cast the warp.
Now DC is powerful, but why did I spec into warp at all then. I felt more like an infiltrator with Dark Channel than like a caster with cloak.

Exceptionally slow-moving nades, exceptionally slow reloading (and that 1.5 delay. Slow.) primer, exceptionally slow killing piece of turret.
I wonder why didn't they make him an Old Turian with decreased movement speed.

The class isn't bad. Homing Grenades were never bad, they deal a lot of damage, decimate armor and deal burn damage when you evolve it for that. The Turret could use a slight buff, but when you evolve it for Flamethrower, it can set up Fire Explosions and you can detonate it with your Grenades. Sabotage needs a cooldown reduction, but it does set up Tech Bursts, which again, your Grenades can detonate. You need to know how to pick your battles. This class is excellent fighting Geth and Cerberus on Platinum. The only race I noticed he suffers against is Collectors. Reapers, Sabotage is less useful, but his Turret and Grenades still work. You can't rely on your Turret for damage, that's what everyone forgets, use it as a diversion.darkblade wrote...

Unless you want to actually put forth an argument for why the GI is related...come to think of it the long CD of Sabotage IS related to the FQI. But still his lack of goodness is not related to Infiltrators.
relaxxxxxxx the fella was just poking fun.

You're 35. Not like you're paralyzed with arthritis or bad hips there, gramps.
Anyways, he's not bad. The Sabotage buff on Tuesday will make him an even better character. As it stands, Sabotage with Tech Vulnerability + Split Homing Nade = good crowd control.

I just skip Sabotage and play him like a soldier.
Not optimal, but fun. For me. A nice change of pace. More fun than the Havoc without Havoc Strike, anyway. (Not a fan of the Havoc at all, regardless of the build)

And then came the Phantoms, and nope, Sabotage did nada. With those blasters, would be nice to have a little stagger if I sabotage them.
Holding it wrong? I took Scorpion and a Hurricane to keep loadout light for higher recharge, but those two enemies alone did a heap of damage and I had a hard time getting away without jetpacking into the side of a crate. Personally I found Dragoons and Phantoms the most challenging for him on gold, which made extraction more of a challenge than I'd hoped (one pug player camped in the LZ on extraction - did not help things, but two of us made it).
I switched to Gethineer after that, and will wait til more discussion appears and advice on how best to play him before I return to the saboteur.

With a falcon I controlled every mook on the map just fine. With a falcon and all 3 of the powers Rank6. Fitness R5 for shield regen.
*Sentry Turret with rockets keeps mobs flipping and getting constant damage.
*Homming Grenades was the main source of Power Damage, used grenaded capacity V and Power Amplifier IV. Boosted damage quite well. Split grenade made for great crowd control.
*Sabotage is the "debuff" of the powers, crap damage but 50% tech power debuff "which is all he has" made it so the 3m some radius of enemies took 50% extra "Rocket and Grenade" damage.
The class requires thinking outside of point and click. Its just that simple. If you can't make it work. Maybe you should play INF or some other class that doesn't require to much effort.
I kept everything but banshees and praetorians at bay. But then thats only because they have high speed/HP. I still need time to redefine my strategy with the class and I still smashed.

So just gonna give in and make him another heavy weapons user. Turian passives w/ a Harrier and grenades, rocket turret so you can just set it out in the open somewhere and forget about it. Use disruptor ammo to help take down shields/barrier and add homings on armor to save ammo. Harrier makes practically anything good, so the strength of the build isn't on the kit as much as the loadout. Bleh :/

Odd, used it during gold reapers, killed buch of enemies in London map. Using the rocket launcher thingy. I don't know if he is bad or good, i can tell you i had a lot of fun playing with him.
