Zaeed: I mean, why not? It's not like more development would hurt his character, and he's pretty good combatwise.
Kasumi would be neat as well.
On a related note: more "guest" squad mates would be neat; Wrex, Wreav, Mordin and Padok in the genophage arc, Thane or Bailey on the Citadel, Legion on Rannoch and me2 squad mates during their sidemissions

@OP, I liked all the ME2 (including Jacob) Squadmates but if I had to choose just one then its....

Miranda by a Kentucky mile.

Off Topic alert; Tension between the Sqaudmates on the ME2 Normandy was a lot of fun.

Grunt.

With Joker and Ashley (or Kaidan), and the new additions of Traynor, Cortez, and Vega, there were already enough major human characters on the Normandy. So if another ME2 character had been a squadmate, it should have been one of the non-human squadmates.

I'd choose Grunt because it wouldn't involve retconning some of the better and most emotially impactful scenes in the series (Thane on his death bed, Mordin in the tower) and because ME3 was lacking Krogan. Up till ME3 having a Krogan squaddie had been a staple.Image IPB

Yeah I think they could have made Miranda work. She would probably look weird wearing her Cerberus outfit, maybe her alternate appearance pack armour would be better. They would have to change her story a bit but just make her forced to come with you on Horion because she gives you the lead and thinks her sister is there, and then there will be certain factors that could lead to her death.

Edit: I would like other characters more, like Mordin or Thane, but Miranda makes the most sense story wise. Grunt and Samara might work though. I would only want Kasumi if she was a proper squad mate with dialogue and romance. Thinking about it having Miranda and Grunt would be great and would fill a lot of missing roles on the Normandy, Samara would be a great addition but I thought she didn't go on the Normandy so she could look after her daughter.

I'd have taken Miranda over EDI anyday.

This. I like EDI's dialogue but she didn't need to be on my squad for that. And considering that you're forced to bring her to TIM's station, I don't feel like it develops her character much if at all. Miranda could have had all kinds of things to say about it especially since she's been there before.

Grunt. It's scandalous that Mass Effect 3 had no Krogan Squadmate.

I'd have preferred that as well. Maybe there is or will be a fan-made mod for that.

Grunt could have been Wrex/Wreav saying "Look Shepard, I can't go with you, but your mission is too important to not have a Krogan on board. I'm sending one that you already work well with."

Mordin and Kasumi were my favorite ME2 characters, but I can't see them working out as well as Grunt or Miranda. I didn't romance Miranda, or talk to her much. Her jump from Cerberus cheerleader to ex-Cerberus was so sudden. She needed a better transition.

Thane. The one in ME2, not that crap they pulled out of their butt in ME3. That was not the character I romanced in ME2. Nor was it a character I bromanced in ME2. It was a badly written imposter.

Also, Legion or Grunt.

Legion.

and if there's no Grunt in ME3 (Zaeed would have been perfect for replacement)

and if both Zaeed & Grunt were gone...........then that player deserves no replacement

Thane.

I still can't get over the fact I've been screwed so bad with his romance.

I'm sure they thought the same thing they did in terms of nearly all the other ME2 squad members: "They could be dead based on player choice, so let's not do that".

Assuming Legion and Mordin are off-limits since they already have fairly strong roles as non-squadmates, I'd say Miranda or Jack, because they've gone through the most change since first meeting Shepard (quitting Cerberus for Miranda, generally becoming more stable for Jack). I'd be interested to see how they'd react to the various situations in ME3.

I don't actually understand that train of thought....why? Miranda's Cerberus....quit or not, she is still Cerberus in the Alliance's eyes. The Normandy is now an Alliance vessel, why would they want Miranda on board? I don't believe the Alliance would trust her at all.

That looks a lot like Kaiden to me.  I have never heard him utter even a single line of dialog in ME2 or ME3.  Yes he deserved to die, and I hope he burns in hell!

Actually for the last 4 playthroughs I just simply shoot 3 bullets so Legion dies, along with all thegeth. I don't know why, but I feel better that way in my playthroughs :)

Legion, Jack, or Miranda. I would replace Liara, Tali, and Vega for these three. But if I had to just pick one I choose Jack of course.
