@Pzykosis: And what's wrong with that?
Aside from the fact that most gamers fulfill repressed needs through virtual sex hook ups.
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking me? I'm all for options though i can live fine either way I just go for content > none-content, which is probably why im the renegadest renegade with the lowest body count. Even if they're just letters saying thanks it's still content.
I'd still like to emphasise that what I'm atleast talking about isn't really skipping content even if I said that earlier and simply another option to take instead.

Because Bioware wants romances in their games. I've easily headcanoned romances in games before(quick example, Serana in Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC, sort of a fling thing in my head), but Bioware puts some romance paths down so if I want to romance a character and they're available, I can do that.
My mind can take care of the blanks.
But Bioware wants friendships and character development in their games too, right? And I'd love to see differences in interactions with companions if you choose not to initiate romances. Like party members having their own romances, or, like I said earlier, seeing a different side to a character than you would see if they were making puppy eyes at your player character.
I enjoy romances in Bioware games, but I also enjoy roleplaying, and sometimes it doesn't make sense to me to be macking on people I met in the middle of a crisis. I don't need a pat on the head, but even subtle differences in dialogue (not different as in "nothing at all when not romanced") would be interesting to me.

Absolutely this. I think the best romances Bioware have done are between companions and never involving the protagonist. Two companions flirting like Garrus and Tali, or Nathaniel Howe and Velanna or Gabby and Ken, they all seem so charming and cute. When the protagonist gets involved, it feels very cheesy and unbelievable.
Companion friendships and romances are definitely something Bioware is improving, with DA2 and ME3 both including and expanding them. I would love to see more of this, especially in place of a protagonist romance.

But yeah, optional content is optional content. More in-depth conversations with your companions would always be nice and welcome, though. No achievement needed on my part.

I don't necessarily need a reward, but scenes or a quest that happen only if you're not in a romance would be cool. Or getting a conversation and insight into a certain character only if you don't romance them...because they wouldn't share that info, or let the player character see them in that light, if they were being romanced. That sort of thing would be better than an achievement or item for me.

Hilarious onese I found on a psychopath run.
Impatient - Maybe people would quit wasting your time if they realized you're time was valuable! You've used the impatient stance at least three times in your career.
Cutting off - You have cut off communications from characters on three different occasions. You're either busy or a bit of a jerk.

I might do a solo playthrough though just to get the magical vibrator achievement though.

But there's a whole Biogrphy section at your local bookstore filled with people that put other things over romances.

I could see it affecting squad banter and dialogue options.
It did. Fenris and Isabela hook up if you don't romance them. Companion conversations were a bit different depending on romance and friendship.

I'm afraid I'm with Allan on this one. Romances are already optional content, which you're under no obligation to use. The idea that we'd make extra content to reward people who don't want to use other content seems a little self-defeating. The non-romance content is the rest of the game.
You're welcome.
It's sad that someone, anyone(let alone David Gaider), has to point out such simple logic. I have several Shepards and Wardens that never romanced anyone but I don't expect a prize for skipping optional content. Should we also get rewarded for skipping every sidequest?

i get wat he is asking an still see no problem tbh, if wee all get extra cutscenes because we are romancing someone why cant someone who doesnt choose that option no get say a cutscene where one of there companions/friends comes an takes em to the pub or something, most of the cutscenes we have for our LI an there to perk us up or comfort us when something happens, why cant someone who doesnt romance anyone get a cutscene with there friend who is trying to cheer them up after a bad day.
There are scenes like that. The Garrus scene on the citadel in ME3. The various scenes at the Hanged Man in DA2. Dialogue for characters in Origins that isn't available if you're romancing them. Etc.

Garrus scene do you mean one shooting bottles?? happens with or without romance
Ive romanced an not romanced anyone in DA2 only time i can mind convo changes is IF i romance them other than that its the same
Im sure i done every dialogue combo i could think of in DAO an same as above the only time i actually miss more convo with them is if i dont romance them.
Romancing adds content, not romancing well just gives you nothing as far as i can tell, im prob wrong though

So who wrote Wynne - cause that person should understand "why" it would be relevant to not have a romance.
She also wrote Leliana and Isabela.

Like Mordin's talk in ME2, when he thinks you're hitting on him if you're not pursuing one of the LIs?

But then I thought about Dragon Age's setting, specifically the Chantry. As learned from Sebastian in Dragon Age II, vows of chastity are existent there. What if you wanted to join the Chantry in that manner?
Well, if you took a romance you probably couldn't, right?
There's a thought. Not a big deal, but some brain-food to chew on.

If you don't want to do romance, fine by me. I don't get why you should need a reward for it though.
Because some people find them cheesy and shallow, or just want to roleplay a chaste hero for whatever reason.
Wouldn't the reward be denying yourself the cheesy and shallow content?
