I have looked forward to dragon age for a few years now, but it has greatly disappointed me for a rather strange reason. I always like dual - wield sword characters in my RPGs, and this game is taylor made to support this style.
My problem is, after completing about 80% of the game, I have found crap for "magic" longswords. With the exception of a darkspawn sword and a normal sword with one rune socket, Nothing. Wasn't having fun, so I started over, and found exactly the same crap once again. I bought the really pathetic Prima stradegy guide, and I can see there are a bunch of items in the game, but I can't find any.
I also should say that this game at times is the hardest game I have ever played. No other bioware game (or game period that I can think of) I have ever played has been all that challenging, but this one has almost made me quit playing twice. And there is nothing better than killing a horde at least twice as good as my party in a difficult boss battle throwing all manner of high level spells and killing nasty baddies than can kill me in two backstabs (remember the crime lord in dustdown?), only to find two treasure chests with a cured leather suit and rough leather boots. Jeez. Put this one back in developement guys. How does this happen?
Where's the lootz?
Completely disgusted,

There are plenty of great longswords:
Starfang, Topsiders Homour, Gaxkangs sword (cant remember the name), to name a few.
Tere is certainly NO shortage of great armour sets.

And the Keening blade too. You get it from Gaxkangg. In fact, I get plenty of longswords that are cool, but I have to sell.
There are tons of great daggers, too, that actually do way more side damage than long swords.

LOl, you know as I told a friend of mine " hun.. burn the prima guide, and you will actually accomplish something in the game and find things.. the guide is so riddled with errors and flaws it's not even funny"
but There are indeed many many great long swords with more than one socket for enchantment, many great knives that do the sme, the greatswords, axes.....no matter your style there are plenty of weapons
( most of them drop from bosses, or are found in locked chests, a few need to be downloaded" like edge" or made " like starfang" "

Then you're not looking around. You can go to merchants to buy some special weapons. Others become available to you on side-quests or after defeating certain bosses.snyderm wrote...

You have to have missed a number of quests to miss that many swords. Topsider's honor, for one. I always end up with that one with my dual-wielding rogue. Usually use a really top-notch dagger in the other hand. But you do have to have a 31 str for Topsider's. More than many rogue builders prefer to put into str. But she's brutal with that sword.

I'll sell you some of the ones I found, just meet me in the party camp, I'll have to buy them back from the stalker merchant.

You misspelled "maces".
