Pretty sure Morrigan is not the returning companion since in the IGN interview they said the expansion only takes place a few months after the game's storyline so Morrigan would still be pregnant. Plus Oghren is shown 3 times in the trailer and all 3 times he is in party formation with the new male mage and warden.
Yeah, but that might be the Dev's being cheap about the trailer & using any old props from DA:O. Have you noticed how the female chararcter animation is pretty much the same as the model animation used in Mass Effect.

I wonder if the talking darkspawn in the trailer IS Morrigan's son?
Morrigan quite likely won't appear, but some mention of her is feasible..
But BioWare has definitely set up the possibility that Morrigan's child is the PC for the sequel, I'll give them that.
No they haven't, actually I would say they have completely done the opposite if any of David Gaider's posts on the whole subject of Morrigan are to be believed.
PC being a godly character has been done before (BG), Bioware I would like to believe are not a 'one trick' pony.
As for Morrigan and the expansion, I do agree with that I highly doubt she will be in it. She went west after the end of the OC, Amaranthine is north of Denerim.
Also shouldn't this topic be in the campaign forum?

I think the best solution would be to allow you to choose one companion relative to how you played out the game.
for the next DA game - yes (Morrigan - other option not allowed)
bud for the expansion - don't know (maybe Sten?)
still i wanna to see Morrigan again (expansion, next DA game)

Will she make an appearance in the expansion?
I sure as heck hope not. I would rather the game continue on w/o her. Especially if you went the route via making a child. That set up is perfect for DA:O 2. I think expansions could continue on DA:O with Wardens rebuilding and continuing fighting darkspawn and other formittable foes.

The way I played my first runthrough of DA, I suspected that Morrigan wanted the God Child so she could do it what Flameth did to her other daughters, posses the child's body when it was grown to maturity, and be a Goddess herself. If anything, her child would be a villian, not a PC.
If thats the case... Morrigan would be the new Flemeth and the child would be the new Morrigan, meaning the child is the good and Morrigan is the evil?

I don't think they necessarily said that the returning character was formerly a PC.. did they? I may be completely wrong.

I suppose it all depends on how BIG the expansion is. Part of me wants her return as a whole other epic, like the original. Expansions to me are more like side adventures, new tales. *shrugs* I found Wynne far more useful to my group setup so I didnt get to know her that well to really want her back immediately. I think that is the main difference in a game setting than a book, is that the game gave us choices on who to spend our time with, so we all have varying degrees of attachment to different characters.
