ME1 still has stuff that I'm just discovering dozens of playthroughs later. AMAZING music on Virmire.

this is a pretty interesting take on it, i hadn't really thought about it like that. thinking about it now that music does sort of seep into you indoctrination style...

I need to start a new trilogy run come to think of it.

Garrusfan, got to admit, you're starting to feel like an actual buddy of mine or something on here. Don't know why, we just seem to get along.

Anyway, if it is a glitch, it's an extremely common one. Again, that Youtube video of someone else also had the same thing happen, you can listen and tell for yourself. And honestly, it's an AWESOME glitch. Added to the Virmire part so much that I'm doing that every playthrough from now on.

I grow on people lol. Anyways is it the part I was talking about. I agree that there is always new stuff though. I still haven gotten the renegade mission. Cause the one you get for getting to a high paragon level is the biotic terrorists that drug the exo geni scientists and basically let them walk around while you fight making it a b**** not to shoot them cause they walk in front of you. And since I always play paragon shep I never get it but I might this playthrough doing my first renegade shep (still am about equal with paragon). Also you were able to kill wrex I am impressed cause I never could I was just about there once then I had to save him

Did you see my thread about that? I made a thread asking people to talk me into it because I lacked the quad to do it. But like starting an engineer, I mustered up courage and went for it. Didn't do it myself though, had Ashley do it and made my Shepard act pissed about it. And then left Ashley behind, though not because of Wrex. It's hard playing an engineer when your physically toughest party member left is an infiltrator (Garrus). No one but tech characters and Liara left.

Andy then why did you leave ash behind. I am sorry I am an ash fan so I always kept her except when I had Kaiden as an LI once. Still I had to switch all my dlc to another hard drive (Xbox 360) since I had run out of room so now I have to play them all again so ash might not live in 9 playthroughs lol

I left Ashley behind because... Let me quote myself from another thread.

"Ashley dies and Kaidan lives, no question... Because you (and I) like Ashley. Not make sense? Let me explain. Ashley is not herself in ME3. She's totally different, in personality, what she says, how she looks, in every way. Worse still, she's different in ways that make her a worse character then her ME1 self. She's like some Ashley imposter, some random girl who killed Ashley and did plastic surgery to look (kind of) like her and fooled everyone into thinking she was Ashley. Whoever that person is, it's not the character I saved in ME1. It's better to let her die in ME1 while she's still herself, while her character still has dignity. I personally like Ashley too much to let ME3 crap on her character like it did the one time I imported a file with her alive. Never again, she deserves better.

Kaidan however still seems like himself. He's the same guy, you can tell. ME3 Kaidan is ME1 Kaidan. His character got respect in ME3. For that reason, carrying him into ME3 doesn't feel like I'm insulting him to do so."

In short, ME3 ruins Ashley but doesn't ruin Kaidan. That being the case, after the one playthrough where I took Ashley into ME3, I'm never letting her survive Virmire again. She deserves to die while she's still Ashley Williams.

Oh, and Kaidan was my engineers LI. That effected things.

Wow... I've lost count of how many times I've played through the original Mass Effect but I never knew about that music. I just started doing a run with a renegade engineer so I'm going to have to try this out when I get to Virmire.

Andy yeah they did screw her up but I love ash anyways just cause she is ash. And I knew they were gonna change how she looks but I was hoping a ponytail instead of the bun and that was it. Then again to me Kaiden redone looks like a ghost he is pale in ME1 he had a good tan in ME1 he turned albino

I have played around that many times as OP has and I never had the music stick last more then a few seconds

My willpower... Fading! I finished ME1 an hour ago, and I've been sitting here on the class select screen of ME2 for half an hour. I loved my last infiltrator playthrough, so badass to just stealth around making quick kills, being some kind of cool assassin. But this is supposed to be an engineer playthrough. Aaaggghhh! Frustrating.

The ME2 engineer is fun and ME3 engineer class is a blast and if you have tali in your squad you can have two drones and a sentry turret going at the same time which together makes another squademate I think (in the amount of power they have). Oh and if you don't let balak go in bringing Dow the sky it is a different batarian that you see in ME3

I didn't let Balak go, but didn't kill him either. So he'll show up in ME3. Just not as evil as he is if you actually let him go. I guess me physically beating the crap out of him and torturing him with bullets 3 times humbled him. And yes, beating. I kept my party back once he was the only enemy left so they couldn't hit him and just beat him into submission with pistol whips. My paragon engineer was PISSED with him. Shooting him wasn't enough, she wanted to personally feel the impacts of his face through her gun, to make him suffer. I took his whole health bar out by just knocking him down over and over. Guy couldn't even stand up to defend himself.

Well... It's technically a glitch. You know how if you let him go the codes are used to shut down human life support in the hospital and causes an Alliance ship to explode that kills 100+ humans? And if you don't and kill him directly it's a friendlier Batarian who instead uses the codes to steal food for Batarian refugees? Well, if you go after him but don't actually kill him yourself (leave him to die or drop him off with the Alliance), it combines those. It's the friendlier Batarians actions of stealing food instead of killing humans, but it's Balak who shows up at the last terminal and tries to kill you.

Last time i did a trilogy playthrough (i play on PC) i tried going more to uncharted worlds i didn't have quest log entries for in ME1. At some point i landed on a planet full of Pyjaks that you could kill.
There is also a green planet somewhere that is full of deer-looking creatures.

No quest log entries?

The planet with the Pyjaks is Eletania. Mission: UNC: Lost Module
The planet with the space cows is Ontarom. Mission: UNC: Dead Scientists

Agreed on Virmire. Great mission.

Now that I come think of it, Mass Effec 1 is the only game which allowed some form of parellel progression in certain mission and had the most non linear mission structures.

Out the top of my head a few details that were great in the first game.

- Minimap for  all missions.
- Lockers actually opened once you hacked them.
- Ground surface sounds.
- Music stingers.

So you've played ME 1 25(!) times and you've always run past that salarian?

No wonder people do not get ME 3's ending, they simply do not explore games enough. I think ME 3's ending is phenomenal in the way that it makes the players (some at least) search for clues in future playthroughs. And there are plenty of them.

Anyway, I'm glad you found it and your description of the music was interesting to read. Thanks.

I mustered up my willpower and selected engineer. Almost faltered though. I actually did select infiltrator, but hit back on the bonus power screen and selected engineer and dominate really fast before I could second guess myself. I'm talking to Jacob on the first mission now.

It's really fun to draw out the fight against the mechs by not making Jacob do pull. I purposely went through all my clips and used overload dozens of times. Probably killed 50+ mechs.

Okay, engineers are pretty awesome after all. I just killed a heavy mech with punches. No class I've ever played (every class at this point in fact) has allowed that. All I had to do was spawn the drone, punch it until it killed the drone, hide behind a crate and spawn another drone, and punch it it until it destroyed the drone again, repeat. Just the drone and punching killed it. Awesome. Gotta love the super strength you got from the Lazarus Project, making a heavy much explode by hitting it in the face enough with your bare hands..

I like all the more classic orchestral pieces rather than the techno ones in ME. Virmires on the top 20 of my list for good Me songs to listen to, it's a very long list so far, all orginized on my ipod for when I go walking.

Just finished Virmire myself. Saving Wrex and Kirrahe is awesome, music is awesome, Sovereign is awesome, Saren boss fight...well, kind of underwhelming really. Also losing Ashley makes me sad. Still right up there with Suicide Mission, Priority: Tuchanka and Lair of the Shadow Broker as among the best missions in the series.

Also, I reckon Sovereign's speech still holds up even when we know the truth.

Just found out on the wiki... Engineers get a 25% reduction on how much resources it takes for research upgrades?! I think I just had a gamer orgasm! That's bloody awesome!

And yeah Virmire is a great mission with great music. I also love how, depending on your choices, you end up fighting Saren at the tower instead of fighting him at the bombing-site. I think the music changes here too :-)

Okay now this is just funny. It's the same fight animations, just a different background; the same complaint said about ME3 that your choices don't change outcomes.
