 i find that some enemies like golden showers more than others. :blink:

GPSMG works fine on gold on low to mid tier enemies, in my opinion.

but to tell the trueth i only ever pick this gun just for the crazy weedeater noise it makes... its like Jim Carey and the most annoying noise in the world scenerio.
i hate the noise but cant stop from shooting the gun even when there isnt an enemy present :pinched:

but i do agree with most of you about how BW needs to add shield damage modifiers to these guns... SMG's... its kinda the whole point of this type of gun in the ME universe after all.

goodluck tho, since this same suggestion of damage vs shields for SMG's has been around since the ME3 Demo.

It's the opposite: you can't profit from the RoF increase of the ****** shooter on mooks which means they'll shoot and thus interrupt your RoF bonus while you fire. The best situation is soft cover on an armored boss with AP mod.

I won't disagree with you that the tempest has better damage output (excluding range). I think you are right on point with it.

Again, its a matter of indirect, and non-damage output related, that I think the GPSMG is fine and outperforms the hornet and Tempest. Example,

I could sit in the LZ and shoot a cryo blast across the bridge (hydra), and destroy a brute until it got to mid-range. With the tempest I am unable to do that as it won't work that far. I could also eliminate 1-3 troopers with headshots in one clip from that distance too. Can't do that with the tempest.

If i put the GPSMG on the GI, I would do better with the GPSMG than the tempest (racial bonuses+ accuracy).

Upclose? Even if it took me an extra 1-2 seconds to kill a brute (because i would only use the GPSMG with a debuff character, leveling the playing field), its not going to make me perform less optimally.

I agree with your point that the GPSMG does less damage (in fact it is confirmed in its stats). But damage doesn't make or break the weapon, which is a point you seem to be missing. A better argument would be to show how the tempest outperforms the GPSMG in terms outside of sheer damage. Show me that the tempest & hornet can 1) stagger opponents (outside of breaking shields) 2) eliminate targets from a distance, efficiently 3) eliminate multiple units in one clip. If you can prove that, you will sway me, and I will admit that the GPSMG shouldn't get the recognition that I have been making

Edit: oh, and for proof #3, it doesn't count if you come right up to a trooper, pop him in the head in 2 shots, then go over to another trooper, wait, and then pop 2 headshots and repeat. It would have to be a legitimate crowd of say, a centurian and two troopers, gold and all would have to be eliminated within a short timeframe. Lets say 5-7 seconds (very possible with the GPSMG, and less time, too)

Any class is fine, so long as you are not skewing the results. All you have to do is prove that the hornet/tempest can do the above.

For example, don't just make a video of you killing one enemy and then repeating it. Attack a group of 3-4 enemies on gold, or 1-2 enemies + a mid-boss unit. Do this from a distance + short range.

In all honesty, i think if you do these things, I think you will see that each gun has its strengh and weakness, yet none is particulary overall better than the other (their weaknesses balance them out), making the hurrican +CSMG in a league of their own

I normally agree with these threads but in this case NO!

 

Put it on a Geth Engineer with Incendiary Ammo and go to town!

 

While I admit it's not as good as the Hurricane (no SMG is) it's still pretty entertaining, and very Gold viable.

Use the same way as the Spitfire - Aim at a spawn and spray the whole group, then hit with Overload. I can get near constant TE's this way.  I've been doing really well with this over the last few weeks and enjoy it just because it's different.  I don't bother trying to get all head shots, it's not that kind of weapon. 

 

I will admit it's quite poor at a low level, but it's worth a go if you have it at X.
