If you like Lesbians, then go with Liara or Samantha.
If you have a life, then go with nothing.
These two are not mutually exclusive.

Let's just say, saying "I'm more interested in talking for a bit" in a sultry voice scared him off into the arms of another woman.

Kaiden is boring, Jacob even more so. Garus is fine but well... just to alien. Thane was alright, though rather to alien as well. His romance was pretty uninteresting. I can understand why those who exclusively plays female characters finds the options a bit underwhelming.
Maleshep has Ashley, who has a bite. Liara.. well Femshep has her to, but being a man, and then play a lesbian is just to predictable. Anyway, Liara... she never caught my interest. Miranda. Yummy! Jack. The Psycotic Biotic.

Romance Garrus, send him into the vents.
Romance Liara, finish the game with low EMS.

Kaidan is boring.
Thane romance is still interesting too IMO even if he *spoilers*

ME3 #1 - My Shepard had no romance in ME2 so I picked Kaidan (lesbian not interesting to me so obviously choice was limited
ME3 #2 - My Shepard romanced Thane in ME2, which reunion I was looking forward to and was sadly disappointed by. I could not bring myself to go with Kaidan after that. He just couldn't match "the voice"!
Since I did not romance Garrus in any of my 4 ME2 playthroughs (I guess I was just drawn to big eyes and THE VOICE), I think I will remain celibate in ME1 and go for Garrus in ME2 and beyond. He is very cool.
I liked all the conversations with Thane and I felt he was more mature and had a prior life that was beyond our experience. You could go with Kaidan ME1/Thane ME2/Kaidan ME3. Or Kaidan ME1/Garrus ME2 & 3.

Haven't romanced Kaiden, so I can't comment on his romance arc. Samantha's arc is alright, as is Thane's.
If none of those options work, there's always Jacob

also i see theres alot of garrus going around but personally i like him as a bestie. him being sheps right hand fits his character better i think. hes an incredibly loyal person and i think the daryl dixon position really works

Kaidan with a faithful FemShep in ME3 is my favorite by far. He also has a good romance scene, as opposed to Garrus's pre-Cerberus HQ scene. Garrus still has a good progressive romance -- like a friends with benefits to true relationship arc, but Kaidan's will always be the best in my opinion.
Can't say anything for Liara. I've never romanced her.
Agree 100% with this. Kaidan is by far the best imo. Garrus is a very close 2nd.

But, Garrus is for me the best. They really seem to connect and act as real partners.
I haven't played Kaidan's or Liara's romance at all.

I'll go for garrus, if only he didn't die in my suicide mission...

Well, I'd say Thane in ME2, since he was nice before they ruined his character in ME3.

what do u mean, "they ruined his character"?
PS: I was gonna say *that* , but then I realized, no spoiler...

If you'd like to see a romance that gets tested by the events of the game and provides will-they-or-won't-they drama, then go for Kaidan. If you'd like to see a romance that defies all odds and expectations (a turian and a human ... can it be done?), to see how love grows from a simple friendship to discovering that they've found their soulmate in the damnest of all places, then go for Garrus.
Edit: Don't view the fact that Garrus' romance comes late in ME2 as a disadvantage. Kaidan is on the sidelines for ME2 so both characters still only have active romances for 2 out of 3 games. Garrus is just available as a squadmate for all three, that's all.

Kaidan...for greatest continuity through the triology - but femshep has fewer options than broshep, and none of the ME2 options really carry through to ME3 - Garrus is a great charactder, but the "romance" seems a little too much like buddy sex than a deep involvment...Liara's just works too well with my male sheps to make the switch credibly...
Disagree about Garrus - it's an awkward romance in ME2, but I think it grows into something quite lovely and meaningful in ME3. My only Femshep playthrough is a Garrus romance, and I can't really imagine romancing anyone else. A faithful to Kaidan playthrough might be worth seeing, but I find his romance the dullest of the ME1 romances (I've played them all), so I haven't been able to resist Garrus.

I don't know about Liara she's simply a character type that doesn't appeal to me. I do know that going through a game knowing you're not going to romance anybody is freeing RP-wise.

wrong in one particular at least - dullest romance priiiiize goes to...may I have the envelope, please?

But yeah, worst overall romance of the trilogy award definitely goes to the priiiiiize. Isn't that why they chose Jacob as the cheater - the gameplay data revealed that virtually no players chose him as their LI?
