Will there be horses in DA3? Or animal companions?

Depending on how open the world is and the mechanics of exploration,  I'm wondering if actually riding horses is even possible, especially with companions. If any of you have played Red Dead Redemption, you may have enjoyed how horses were handled, very fluid and realistic, they were a kind of safety net at times. I found horses is Skyrim jarringly peculiar in movement and behaviour, so I'm wondering how it would be handled if introduced by Bioware.

But still, it would be nice to see them as animals in the DA world, to bring about some believability and touch on lore (even just as a background element). I remember clearly horses were included in the books (The Stolen Throne, The Calling.) I mean, surely walking everywhere would be kinda inconvenient over large distances in terms of major travel. Also, it would be fun to build a friendship with your steed, customise them, issue commands, hmmm. Maybe this ties into animal companions, familiars, summons, that sort of thing?

Anyone else ever wonder?

Don't care about horses. Would rather have summonable ghast.

Horses would be great, but I really don't see it happening.

Well, Frostbyte 2 is able to support tanks, planes, and helicopters in Battlefield 3. So having horses would likely not be too far of a stretch.

I certainly hope so. The lack of horses in Dragon Age hurts me.

The general lack of farm animals in general has always bugged me in DA games.

I like how Assassin's Creed handles horses. They feel fluid and like they have some substance, they can't turn on a dime, they can't instantly stop, and there's multiple "speeds" from a slow walk to a gallop. Oblivion horses felt a bit wrong to me, and please no WoW ground mounts heh.

I am not bothered either way, but if they do add horses, I hope it's more like Assassin's Creed type.

Yeah. Real medieval societies revolved around domesticated animals, especially horses, and it feels weird that you never see them in Dragon Age games even though we know they exist. I'd prefer there not be a horse riding mechanic but it would be nice to see them hanging around in the background.

Also it would be nice if it were implied that characters travel from area to area on horses. Have a horse that you click on before traveling from hub to hub. Walking all over a continent is kind of silly.

Yeah, but perhaps THE most fundamental aspect of the game is exploration and traveling the world. Making the horse work correctly was something I imagine they spent a ton of time doing.

I think that trying to get the PC and three other party members on horses would be a nightmare. The pathfinding, the AI...jeez. Not to mention the environments in BioWare games have never been much more than set pieces. You don't really interact with them. They just sort of exist to run over, with you occasionally bumping into things. It wouldn't make sense to have a horse in this environment.

Of all the things to spend money on, I think horses might be one of the worst.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves: we aren't likely to see more animals before we get something as monumental and unique as bowstrings.

Horses are too cys-gender. The confirmed gender roles of stallion and mare are stifling to social justice.

Enough with the oppression of the lower classes. What of mules, and donkeys, and those ones that are half-zebra and half-donkey?

Oh totally agreed. I am always sad when I go from AC to DA and try to jump and get confused why I'm suddenly controlling someone else :wizard: They should add in jumping! AC really does awesome things with an open world AND an amazing story. Oh god, marry DA to AC and I would be thrilled. As it is, I enjoy them both for totally different reasons. AC actually kicks my ass, for one

I am certain I'll enjoy DAI anyway, whether there's horses or not. But if there is horses, I hope they would be integrated in a good way.

On the other hand, a lot of WoW is based on exploration (especially Dailies of Pandaria) and the mount animations still suck.

I demand star-nosed moles, no game is complete without them!

More animals would surely make druids happy.....are we even going to get a druid class in DAI?

I always killed me that in DAO the "tank" druid shape was a bear. I don't even know why, it just reminded me too much of WoW and my brain went "uh, no."

At least it didn't have a tree form.
