I use a Logitech 350 Gamepad for quite a few games, the Need for Speed series primarily as for some reason both Blackbox and Criterion absolutely suck at programming usb driving wheel controls.

It works for NfS, but not for games where you have to point (clicking or shooting optional). It would be heresy!

Don't bother trying a game controller with any of the ME games. It isn't supported for PC which makes mapping it a nightmare, especially considering the different HUD system. Running any of the controller mappers while playing any of the games (especially ME3 MP) will give you a drop in performance too, even if your machine is pretty beasty. I learned this from experience with all the games. I've tried a lot of different mappers and configurations. The controller is always slower than it already is on consoles, so it's kind of a double hit since mouse and keyboard is the fastest and most precise of all. A worthy alternative, however, is a gaming keypad. I use a Razer Nostromo and it works just as well as the keyboard - it's great for transitioning from console to PC imo. If you wanna go the keypad route and want configuration advice, zap me a PM.

We welcome you into the fold.

Honest question: if I use an Xbox 360 controller on my PC, is that heresy? Should I be flogged? What would be the appropriate punishment?

I have about 4 or 5 hours on PC after maxing an xbox manifest. Trust me, it's like night and day. Headshots are so aplently with that mouse (I have around 500 already) and the game runs so fluidly and the quick turning is so good and the remappable controls, and... and... I'm rambling. I'm starting to get back into PC gaming because my dumb friends made me play poopBox 360, jerks.

Light, this one has seen it.

Good luke enjoying driving games with an on and off keyboard.

A sterring wheel is better, but a proper steering wheel, such as the G27, would set you back €220+

A controller is required in games such as F1 2010/2011/2012, Project Cars etc.......

Also open world games with cars.....

Controllers are better for vehicles, yea. That applies to flight sims of any kind.

I would be interested in seeing a competition where the "master race" and console scrubs go head to head, 2 matches one on each platform (So everyone plays on a PC, then on a console).

I would wager 100 to 1 that the console scrubs wipe the floor with the master race, due to their innate handicap of point and click head shots.

With 3rd person over the shoulder shooters, my advice is to ignore the character model. It's like the gun model bobbing up and own on the right side in most 1st persons shooters. It's fluff, ignore it.

Focus on the center of the screen and crosshairs.

I would also say if you're looking into taking ME multiplayer seriously, try and invest in a multi-button mouse. I've only played the demo (waiting for Birthday on the 19th), but playing it with a Naga's button-grid, and playing with a normal 3 button mouse is night and day.

Or each home team wins cause the other doesn't have as much experience with one?

I'm actually enjoying both the PC version and the PS3 version. I'm finding fewer glitches on the PS3 version (like these on PC: disappearing Banshees, some powers not working correctly at close range, also haven't played it nearly as much as PC) but I think the PC definitely connects and plays faster, and it seems like there are far more bad guys to kill. Each have their bonuses and cons, love em both.

Actually, even though I've spent the majority on the consoles, I'd say after a few matches on the PC to warm up, we'd be the more capable team. The new aiming freedom would be a breath of fresh air, whereas the PC gamers would equate our sticks to scum sucking. : P

I would argue that the learning curve on PC is significantly less than the one on Console, ergo Console players would pick up the PC faster and win.

It's alright if you're transfering or on certain games (racers for example) but if you're not, you will bend over and take your punishment in the future. We won't punish ex-post-facto though, we aren't animals.

100 lashes and one week treatment as a peasent. To be doubled for each future transgression, FYI.

OP, someone mentioned it in passing, but I think it needs emphasis, mapping your mouse buttons to your powers is pretty important to raise your effectiveness level (assuming you have at least a $30 gaming mouse).

For me personally, I map hot keys 1, 2, 3 and 7 (medigel for reload cancel), the rest, to include rockets are easy enough to find when you need them. That way, you can maintain movement and control of your character while using your powers.

Don't know if this is just me and my setup or a common problem, but when the EA server craps the bed, it makes my mouse button mappings go stupid and I have to quit ME3 and restart. So if you encounter that, the fix is annoying but easy--plus you can still play the game until you reboot ME3, you just have to use the number keys for powers instead of the mouse buttons.

Look forward to seeing you in a pug soon. Good luck in the RNG store.
