Because some players roleplayed "their Shepard" as a heartless malevolent sociopath, it would seem.

Let's count the species you can exterminate.

Rachni(x2)
Krogan
geth
Quarians
(Potentially the Hanar and Drell)

But you never lose any sleep over them...

But we can relate to the asari so much, right?!?!?!

Stupidity-  The second the reapers arrived they should have given anything that could help.  And its not a few select matriarchs.  The asari governemnt is a direct democracy, their governemnt is elected by popular vote, so it actually is the asari's fault.  And are you saying its ok for the asari to hide ground-breaking technology and information, but no one else?  That leads to...

Hypocrisy- They forbid the hiding of prothean technology, but they are perfectly fine with hiding it for themselves.

Military- The Turians are holding Palaven and they got it worse, Earth is still holding, worse than Thessia, they just can't fight.  I don't know why Joker says they should have more commandoes, they are pretty useless.

1- Because the Asari officials ran for office with big signs that said "We hide Prothean tech everyone!"

2- Would you rather them share it with the Krogan?

3- Earth got blasted way faster than Thessia and what makes you think that the Humans and Turians are still fighting but the Asari arent?

1.  We hold the people responsible for the actions of the government on Earth.  Why should the Asari be exempt?

2.  Share it with everyone, like they are supposed to.

3.  "We've completely lost contact with Thessia, the planet has gone dark" -Tevos

You can talk to Anderson who is still on Earth,  Garrus is till getting information from Palaven, they have't been lost yet.  Thessia has

They wanted Shepard to actually have some character development this time.

What you call "character development" I call railroading.

As cruel as Joker's comment was, he was 100% correct.

It doesn't matter if he was correct or not. My point was that it was inappropriate and therefore he deserved the reaction that Shepard gave him. Shepard was never completly ours. He had a determined personality that we got to mold.

I don't necessarily feel good about Thessia. But I also make it a policy not to snap at my people for speaking their mind. Ever since ME1 we've had an agreement that any of them can say whatever they want without fear of retribution.

And before you say anything, no, I do not accept being stressed as an excuse. Shepard is a professional and he should act like one. Keep those feelings under control.

In ME1 you could decide between letting an attempted terrorist go, or leaving him in prison. In ME2 you can kill a squadmate and instead recruit her sociopathic murderous daughter.

So the asari act like any nation would in the real world, hiding their resources even as a looming threat approaches and only sharing it when it looks like they'll have no chance of winning unless they do so. I don't see what's so much worse for the asari to do it, when we know for a fact that they can be as selfish and self-interested as any other race or nation in the galaxy.

Fighting to the last person doesn't change the tactical situation.  Thessia is as good as fully harvested.  Just beacuse not every last assari has been killed doesn't change the reality of the situation.  Earth and Palaven are still capable of making a difference in the war.

Thats all well and good.

But I would rather not have Shepard develop than have Shepard develop opposite the way I desire. Hence Shepard being a malleable PC. Nevermind that if the dialogue choices were actually different from each other, development would be achieved and nobody would be pissed off.

It's funny how an Asari finds the key to the war and we end up going to the Asari homeworld to find more "proof".

Why couldn't the Yahg be the key, or Pyjak?

Bioware sure loves dem Asari.

I said that you could mold Shepard, those choices are you molding him. Obviously, Bioware decided that Shepard would never make light of millions of deaths, no matter how you molded him. Give me one example where Shepard joked about a massive loss of life like Thessia(or Rannoch since you like using that one.)

*le sigh* Did you not see the Asari war ships in the ending scene? Obviously the Asari were helping as well.

Whether or not he "deserved" anything is completely subjective. What part of that is so hard to grasp?

Shepard, before the end of LotSB, never had a determined personality. Why else do you think you're made to choose Shepard's background and dialogue?

Yeah the ships.  Congratulations, if they are as crappy as their infantry we might be better off without them.  Adn besides that is their ships, the planet is irrlevent by then.

Shepard doesn't joke. about it.  But the option should have existed.  And you actually can make light of condemning the krogan, and you can joke about killing the asari.

well .. thessia is fighting as well .. the problem is, that thessia consists of city states and every city has its own defense force. they have no real united military.

in mass effect 1, the codex (military doctrine) states, that only 1% of all humans serve in the military and that this is the lowest rate among all citadel species.

there are potentially more asari soldiers out there, than human. sadly, asari are mostly commandos, who are not very usefull in a stand up fight. but they are perfect partisan fighters.

thessia is not doomed ... at least not any more than palavan or earth or any other settlement. earth is fighting a partisan war against the reapers .. the turians are just buying time with the lifes of their soldiers. its pointless resistance.

Because you have always been able to do whatever you want in the series right?

We had more freedom to roleplay in the last two games where we had less auto-dialogue and *gasp* a third option on the dialogue wheel.
