I actually like their CGI take on Morrigan.

She isn't perfect, a bit quirky and has a definite visual personality rather than just being another pretty face. If you watch her talk (in the brief moments she does so) the CGI version conveys a strong character without resorting to the not-so-subtle 'you should take my clothes off and ravish me now' stereotype which so many female fantasy characters seem to fall into. You'd probably think twice about making snide/shallow comments to her about such things, which I think fits her character perfectly.

She isn't unattractive, but also not a 'model of perfection'. Some of the most interesting and engaging people I've known are not what one could call universally attractive, but then maybe I'm just not shallow enough for the typical pop-culture 'everyone must be pretty' plastic-surgery generation we seem to have fostered.

Thats ofc. no 100% serious statement. No offense :D
Its just that her skin and facelook are in the CGI is more like British, then any "stereotype"-look from
, lets say France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Skandinavian(which is maybe one root of British looks?) or Slavian.

And no: I dont wanna say, that British Women are ugly, its just this "stereotype", thats not mostly in common with -at least my- taste of beauty. There are also "ugly" types in other Regional "standards".
(damn! political correctness is really exhausting :))

Sarevok,

No offence was taken hehe....was curious on your comment as i am in fact...actually English lol...

And yes I agree, not pretty (by my standards of male'ness), but the cgi character is far from unattractive imo.

And would agree to an extent, British women compared to say our European counterparts are not as attractive, but maybe part of that thought process is drilled into us, would agree that many Eastern European women are amongst the most beautiful in the world.

!!! DONT say that!
British women have their outstanding Boobs! Dont underestimate ya girlz !:wizard:

And P.S. to some who like the character of the CGI Morrigan: Me too! i liked the "... freeze to death, while we search for the bones of a madwoman!..". That was awesome :o And her british accent is fine.
But i think her face + the grimasses she "wears" on it let her look like a freak, less like a interesting character.

Lol...

Some very misinformed people here.

The CGI Morrigan isnt supposed to look like the real model/bioware game model.

The company used to do the trailer were given total artistic licence. It is 'their' representation, just like you can't get the armour used, or the wardens face....

EJ, I respect you, but you are arguing for the sake of it. You cannot win the argument (not that there is one anyway)...we all have opinions on what she should look like, does look like, and whether or not she is attractive or not.

It is all opinion and subjective.

You don't understand.  I already won the argument when I started the thread.  There is no argument.  What I say is law.  I am the ultimate authority on what is good and bad.

In all seriousness, the model itself isn't completely horrible.  I think they just rigged it really poorly.  The facial expressions just distort her face in ways that should never be done for someone who is supposed to be considered as beautiful as she is supposed to be.

Actually, I've changed my mind. I just watched the trailer again, and I absolutely hate everything about the Morrigan model they used. The Leliana one isn't half bad, but still they are really bad at facial expressions across the board. Even look at the Grey Warden's face near the beginning, when he's yelling. It looks like his head is going to split open as wide as his mouth opens up.

Yes! EJ42 is the Maker in this thread! Like the Trainman in the trainstation in Matrix!
And also Sarevok is sharing his oppinion! No rhetorics and no arguing can stand against this sheer force of Power!

Oh, but EJ42: You have to change your oppinion towards Leliana's face in the CGI. NEVER YOU DARE AGAIN!
OR YOU WILL FEEL MY UNHOLY WRATH!!!:devil::devil:

I just figured out who the Warden is in the cinematic trailer. He was very clearly modeled after James Purefoy.

He is so very sexy.

Pfft, Marc Antony was way cooler than Maximus, and the fighting style is widely used in all Roman theatrics.

Eh, it's just a different interpretation of a virtual character by another company (the CGI isn't done by BioWare).

Meh.

I love the model for Morrigan. I thought she was beautiful, both ingame and out. Even as a girl, I can admit she looked gorgeous.

Does she look pretty when caught in the middle of a sneer after making a darkspawn explode? No. Sneers were not made to be standstill pictures taken in the middle of it. Nothing in that trailer was. It was action. Movement.

Bad facial expressions? When it's four people against, what, a hundred darkspawn and a dragon, NOBODY will look like a model. IMO, the facial expressions were real. They conveyed real emotions very well. Nothing was meant to be screenshotted.

The Warden yelling? Uhm, yeah. I dare you NOT to open your mouth that wide when yelling orders in battle. If he only opened his mouth to a "purdier" angle, then who would have heard him? His sword?

This is a gritty game. Nothing good is ever "OMG MODEL SEXEH". Men have such warped standards of beauty. Morrigan was such a wild, feral beauty, NOT a covergirl. I wouldn't play this game if she were a model.

Blur has done an excellent job, yet again. I give them kudos for another wonderful game trailer, and hope they continue to do more. As has BioWare, for an outstanding game that has made me lose countless hours of sleep.

Please, don't generalize us all with your teenage boy "If she R NO PLAYBOY MODEL IT R SUK LOLOLOL". Your opinion is your opinion, NOT a fact.

Wrong, not once during the whole sacred ashes trailer did I see the warden throw a mobile phone at hotel staff while shouting obscenities.

Why?

and also to have Morrigan's outfit from the trailer as well. Her current one is impractically bare, and that's coming from a guy. =]

Well look what I found....

Not perfect but ti's a start. There's another Morrigan Sacred Ashes robe on there somewhere but I don't think it looked as good in the preview screenshots. I haven't tried either myself yet.

I'm sorry you think so, but no.  Facial expressions on pretty people do not make them look like Cruella de Vil...

The CGI artists failed miserably with Morrigan.  They failed in several areas with Leliana in the CGI too, but I was mostly pleased with her and the Grey Warden.

Blur has done an excellent job, yet again. I give them kudos for another wonderful game trailer, and hope they continue to do more. As has BioWare, for an outstanding game that has made me lose countless hours of sleep.

I'm sorry, but I simply cannot agree with you here.  The "Wardens Calling" trailer was very well done.  ()  Then again, it didn't have the horrible Morrigan in it.

Please, don't generalize us all with your teenage boy "If she R NO PLAYBOY MODEL IT R SUK LOLOLOL". Your opinion is your opinion, NOT a fact.

1) Not a teenage boy.

2) The in-game Morrigan isn't a Playboy model either, and I find her FACE attractive.

It was never about the body.  It's all in the face of the CGI model(s).  They really failed on Morrigan in the CGI, IMO (i.e. fact).

My opinion is not simply an opinion.  There have been plenty of studies done on the subject.  Look at the following link, for example.  Morrigan's face, from the CGI, is just too...odd and unnatural to be properly beautiful.

http://www.world-sci...1222_beauty.htm

Claudia Black and the in-game Morrigan could sneer at me all day long, and it would not detract from their beauty one bit.  The CGI Morrigan, on the other hand, has extremely few frames where she does look barely decent.

You could clothe Claudia Black, the in-game Morrigan, or Victorria Johnson in a habit, and throw them in a convent without making their faces any less beautiful.  The CGI Morrigan would require a few hours of my time in 3DSMax or Blender to fix what's wrong with her.

Just let this thread burn. No argueing with a person that you'll never meet in real life that states his opinion is fact because he believes it. Nothing wrong with thinking that either, plenty of people do. Argueing with it, however, is as futile as trying to explain to a 4 year-old how candy is bad for them and shouldn't be eaten. Just let it burn. :)

This post is for people to say they think the CGI model is ugly too, and for me to commend them on their good taste.

It's also for people to say they think she's better looking in the CGI, and for me to take down their usernames on my list of people whose opinions I hold as questionable.

It's not an argument or debate of any sort.  The only way for you to be right is to agree with me, or at the very least not dispute my view of the world.

You could always say that they interpreted the character of Morrigan in a way that differed from how she was portrayed in the game because they were given an incomplete set of information to work with.  Maybe they thought she was a "witch of the wilds" meaning that she should look like a stereotypical "ugly" witch.  I could accept that answer to my original question.

Yes, I know. In no way was I condemning people from agreeing with you. I was simply trying to state that if their veiws differed, they shouldn't post bashing comments here; instead go to another thread and talk about how CGI wasn't fugly. Simply my 2 cents.
