Why you ask? Because it's always demons and spirits.
Darkspawn? Tevinter Magisters cursed for entering the Fade in physical form using power they gained from demons and spirits.
Lyrium Idol? Found in a den surrounded by demons and spirits.
Orsino going wacko? Using magic originally learnt from demons and spirits.
Huge cataclysmic event? Yeah, my money is on drunken demons, yet again.

I would LOVE if Bioware just created a story with man being the only great evil. but alas, Bioware and Mr. Gaider generally prefer some sort of unspeakable evil in their worlds.
I think DA2 was pretty much an attempt to do this, with the exception of the lyrium idol, which was completley unnecesarry as Meredith could have belivably gone off her rocker without it.

Grand enchanter Fiona perhaps?
After going mad after an old god calls for her and the taint becomes unbearable, she is using all her fellow mages as puppets. So in order to save both mages and the chantry you have to kill her.
Opens up for a Grey Warden companion (someone we already know?)

Fiona doesn't have the taint anymore as the end of The Calling said. She's the first Grey Warden ever to be free of it.

that would be interesting, i dont think i could bring myself to kill morrigan so flemeth is gonna have to die.Kiatta wrote...
I love wild guesses! I'll give it a go.
For DAI, there is no good vs. evil. It's just a huge epic war between two puppeteers whose morals can be described as differing shades of grey. They've been there all along, subtly manipulating the events of DAO and DA2, pushing towards their vision for Thedas. Perhaps it's the total destruction of Thedas, perhaps they want to take over, or perhaps they're trying to prepare Thedas for a bigger threat. I would assume Flemeth to be a good guess for one of the major players, but the other one could be anyone. Morrigan would be sufficiently dramatic. Maybe The Warden fights for Morrigan and Hawke fights for Flemeth. You, as the Inquisitor, can turn the tables in favour of either side, or you can grab some popcorn and watch them go at it.
Seriously though, who knows? We know next to nothing about the game. I would love to see an epic battle to the death between Morrigan and Flemeth though.

Actually you forgot that Loghain was one of the main villains in DAO, not just the Darkspawn.Captain Cornhole wrote...
Back in Origins we mainly had the Darkspawn as a whole acting as the main villains, in DA2 it was a combination of The Arishok, Orsino and Meredith as the primary antagonists. What do you suspect the main villain/antagonist will be in DA3?
I don't think it would be too far off to suspect a mage or templar, or even some demon being behind things. What about Flemeth or Morrigan or even Sandal? SPECULATE NOAW!
