I think we should have the hero's mother as a squadmate in DA3. I dont think we got enough of it in DA2, so DA3 should rectify that. The mom could act as a clothes washer and food maker too, for convenience. Maybe have an angry stepdad that doesnt like you as the main storyline in DA3 too.

Cue "hero's mum for LI".

It is inevitable.

I think we need a Dad this this time, for variety. We haven't gotten to adventure with Dad yet.

A lot of people have a hard-on for Bethany, I wouldn't be surprised.

How about no family?

That way I don't have to hear their constant boring life stories of being inferor to me or give a crap when they die.

I support this. as long I don't have to care about her.
That properly defeats the point of having your mun come along, but its more I want a older female companion.

Uhuh.

Although (not in their defense) it's not too surprising when the other girls are a deceiving pirate **** and an idiot blood mage that looks like a child. Overlooking the whole sister thing for a bit, she would have been a delightful change of pace from the usual biowarean romancables.

Agreed.

I like it.  I was a big fan opf the choice to include the PCs family in the story.  It (the solo PC with no connections to the world) is a model I'm bored with.  Lets mix it up.

Yeah, that was disturbing.  Before it just became "the thing" to either cry for or against.  Then it was simply pathetic.

I don't need another mom blaming me for the death of her child that I had nothing to do with again.

I don't mind this. At all.

Hell I hope we get more sister/brother squad action somehow as well.

what kind of a hero would he be if he had his mom tagging along everywhere? Sorry but that just sounds lame to me. Although I wouldn't mind another brother/sister character.

Mom will carry a 2H sword and scold the enemy while she dismembers them.

Because nothing quite says badass like going on a quest with your mother.

It might work if the mother is a solider or former solider that could be used as a tool to level up or learn new skills.

My real life mother is dramatic enough, thanks.

I do like the idea of having family. But if our player characters are adults, I would hope we would have left the nest by the time the game starts.

Mom: Come here, let me make sure those straps are on right ...

PC: But Mooooooooom

Mom: Don't mom me, you don't even know what could be in that cave

PC: I know how to put on armor!

Mom: Of course you do, dear, that's why you were coughing up blood from the last fight

EPIC FAMILY ADVENTURE TIME CONVERSATIONS!

If the mom is a badass like Adaia from the City Elf Origin? Totally.

Since BioWare likes to give us whiny, co-dependent, stay-at-home mothers for human protagonists like Eleanor for the Cousland Warden, Revka for the Amell Warden and ****ing Leandra for Hawke, I say skip it. The last thing I want is another whiny "I can't do anything without my husband" housewife voiced by Deborah Moore (no offense to her, she's a great voice actress, but I can't stand the characters she voices in Dragon Age) to come on quests.

Saw the title. First thought: "This looks promising!"

In seriousness, this assumes she turns up. And is alive. And stays alive. And is a BAMF.

-Walk into a tavern
-Everybody starts hitting on your mom
-Hero is grounded for getting in a bar fight

Good idea.
