How do you guys justify your character having those promotional and DLC items you start with which are worth hundreds of golds?

I find it hard to believe that a city elf would have inherited a bunch of legendary items at tier 6.

As a result, I just play without them. I guess it's one way to say kiss-my-ass to pre-orderers.. :?

When i play, i play to beat up monsters.
I used to like monopoly too, but i dont want economy to play any particular role
in this kind of game.
ed: as a result, i hack my items and can't be bothered with merchandizing,
first thing i do is to hack myself 1000 gold

Yes, that makes the game easier than it already is, plus as you mentioned, it's illogical or may be immersion breaking for some. Especially the Reaper's Cudgel, heh.

I don't really care to be honest. I have played through the game when it was released without any of that. Now I just like getting a smooth start and get past the starting areas without too much hassle. Those areas bore me to tears nowadays, but the rest of the game does not.

Exactly the case for me.  Power players may love it but I have a more memorable experience when I play with a challenge.
