I'm not going to go into it. I will say, however, that EVERY choice you make isn't going to show up -- if you don't go to Redcliffe at any point in the story, for instance, then what you did there isn't really going to affect much, is it? But the short answer is that some of your choices do affect things, yes.knarayan wrote...
Your char's actions are recognized - meaning ally choices? Templar/Mage and Werewolf/Elf? Who you put on the throne?
Or just that you stopped the blight?
Will we be given an idea of what choices are carried over nearer the time of release?
Taking a different slant from the OP, but what if your character didn't choose the "Rebuilding the Wardens" option? Do they need to start the Orlesian Warden as well?
Am all fine with that, just be nice for some clarity

I hate this expansion now
Don't be too hasty.
I personally felt it was bad news because of how early they are going to release it. But let's wait and see. It's too early to either like or hate it.

One of my favorite parts of Bioware games are the epic romances, so being a human mage whose heart is completely devoted to Alistair, I am concerned about picking my same character and having that sweet, lovely relationship stay intact! I am crossing my fingers, but either way, Dragon Age is probably the best game I've played to date.
Seriously. If I'm not rebuilding the Grey Wardens with Zev at the beginning of Awakenings then I'm going to be a mite peeved. That relationship is a helluva lotta work! It better stay intact!

Personally I would never kill off my character that I spent so much time developing if there is an option for him to live. All my characters will agree to the Dark Ritual. For me killing off your character is a game breaker.

I have an enduring hatred for games that kill off your main character. Then, when they discover the huge popularity of the title, they use some nonsensical method to revive him for a sequel. Will our expansion character be a Grey Warden/Spirit Eater?

But... but... some of the best movies end up with the hero dying.
On a serious note, David posted earlier that if your character did the sacrifice they are dead and you can play as the Orlesian Grey Warden but get to carry save data over from your sacrificial warden's game.
I really wasn't expecting them to go this route, but it is kind of neat that they are.
I imagine the same applies to any warden who didn't remain as the warden commander, you have to play as the orlesian warden but get to carry save data over. Kind of interesting because even though am thinking of attempting about 18 character playthroughs in total, only about 2 of them are going to end up remaining as the Warden commander.
Be interesting to see whether those that spared Loghain are going to be treated just as well

It's been pointed out to me since that my information is old -- so I'm going to have to mea culpa on that info and just back slowly out of here. This is why it's too early for us to start answering these sorts of questions, sorry.Sir Ulrich Von Lichenstien wrote...

so wait...even if your character LIVED you wont get to play as him in expansion
Wait what? Where did you get that from. The new origin is provided ONLY if you need to or want to have a new character for the expansion. It is not a requirement.

You can always have Alistair or Loghain do it for you...the dying part and the ritual part.

And speaking of weddings, I wonder how married-into-royalty Human Nobles will be affected...

Oh my, someone needs to spend some quality time with the developers and get up to speed.
I assume this simply means that the Orleasian Warden will always use pre-determined choices instead of carrying on the dead Warden's tale?

What I'm wondering most is the "Alistar or Loghain" choice. What if you picked Loghain instead of Alistar? What if Alistar and Anora wed, Loghain joined you, and sacrificed himself?

It looks as though all Alistair does is give the 'mission briefing' at the beginning and maybe appear later, if he's King. If he's not, then Anora will likely take his place.
If Alistair disappeared don't expect him to show up. If you saved Loghain and did the ritual then you'll probably just get a blurb that he's out recruiting, since that's his job by the end of the game.
Really, short text blurbs explaining why said character is absent is quite easy.

This is from an IGN interview... http://pc.ign.com/ar.../1058656p1.html
But one of the things that we wanted to do with Dragon Age as a franchise is that it's all based on choices and consequences. So there is a lot of reactivity to things that you've done in Origins if you choose to import that character. Of course, that will depend on the decisions you made and at what point you're importing them into Awakening. For instance, if you're coming from the end game save, then there's going to be a lot more reactivity, including [Spoilers Ahead!] right down to the very choices of how the Archdemon was defeated and who you put on the throne and all that kind of stuff -- hopefully that's not going to spoil it for you!
