Should The Warden and Hawke come back and play a big role in DA3?

I have said this before and I'll say it again. I know some people say they wouldn't like to see their old characters come back (if your first one is still alive) because it would ruine how they saw their old characters - how their personalities were in their minds. But what if there was a way to keep that? If they came back and you could control what they said in DA:I from the beginning, you can keep the sort of personilty you gave them. Would you like them back then?

I have to say, personaly for me I would love to see my characters back. Them and the others. If your old characters "hoocked up" with someone I hink they should ome back too. It would be great to have them back with your new character (and of course the new character gets a chance to get a boy / girl friend). Since my character will be female I think Cullen should be a romance option in  the thrid one B). Just a thought.

Anyway, loosing track here. What does anyone else think about this idea?

Oh and I thought would be a good idea is if we could have a bigger party. Instead of having just four of us there should be 6 instead. It would be wicked in my opinion if the 6 we can choose is The Warden, Hawke, third character and other old characters. I would like to travel with Alistair and Anders since I got my last two to marry and run away with them. And my third character could travel with her partner (hopefully she can get one too).

With this they can add and make lots of quests with a brilliant side story. Like finding a cure to get rid of the tainted blood, they can finally have children, the Templar and Mage war finishes and using my Hawke as an example she can live happily ever after. Leading from that they can make a forth game involving all their kids, new dangers, they can do lots of things.

What makes you think I stared it? And how do you know who does it?

Besides this is off topic, I was asking about something else.

Hey, if you're not going to do 5 star posts, don't post at all

I mean would you vote for a president who didn't even vote for himself?

Off topic: Might as well rename the topic "did I 5 star my own thread"

On topic: I'm for the Warden and Hawke returning. I could also see the Warden playing a big role as commander of the grey.

I don't see what the point would be, they're our creatures not Bioware's, there's nothing that could be done with them that wouldn't be potentially out of character

Yeah, I wouldn't be happy with seeing A) our Warden/Hawke canonized into a particular figure to streamline their adaptability into the story or B) our Warden/Hawke acting out of character, and I promise you no one else would be either, so I don't think BioWare will choose to involve them that way.

I think it's frankly impossible to see them in a big role that directly involves them. Way too many variables. But sometimes it's not necessary for a character to have a big role and have a large presence and also need to be directly involved. You can potentially say the Divine had a fairly influential role in DAII, but most of it is off-camera and only inferred/hinted at.

The Warden story is over and Hawke's story was boring.

Let them both go.

I heard on the BSN (I think) (from David Gaider, I think) that if the Warden or Hawke came back, they would try to do it right. If they couldn't do it right, they wouldn't do it at all.

So yes, if they feel they should do it (unless their judgement is wrong).

I would really like us to move on. The Warden is memorable in his/her own right, and I would prefer to keep those memories as they are. He/she was part of a glorious story that will always be remembered, and personally I can close off the details in my own imagination.

Hawke? Perhaps. I suppose she/he was the beginning of the story we are all about to play out, so it makes some sense for at least a cameo. However, I am very much against all the nonsense around importing save games and what have you, so if Hawke appears, I think it should just be the default. However, everyone will probably complain about that.

So after all that, no I don't think either should be used. Let's just let them go and start a new adventure.

I don't want them to return, but I expect that the disappearing act that Bioware pulled is resolved in the next game. Bioware tells us to let our old characters go, that every game focuses on a new protagonist. Fine. But then why they insist on dragging those old characters back into the spotlight with some great mystery I don't really understand.

Playing as Hawke, I had a lot of control over what he looked like, what he wore, how he fought. When it came to his personality though - what he said and the decisions he made - I was picking from the possibilities provided by the game. Anything else I imagined about the character was still built around what Bioware put in. All of those decisions come through in the save files, so it wouldn't be impossible for Bioware to create an NPC version of Hawke that looks, dresses, and fights the same, has the same sarcastic sense of humor, and takes the same stances on issues and relationships that he did when I was controlling him. And there's nothing stopping me from reading all of the same stuff into that version that I read into the character before.

It'd take more to make a character like that than it would a normal companion, you'd need multiple dialog sets and probably alternate versions of some scenes, but they're able to do that for the PC, and companions don't get anywhere near as much screen time.

No.

My Warden had his journey, and I don't want to see anyone else from back then. Seeing what they did to Anders made me despise that character. There was no point in bringing all those cameos in, they were part of the Warden's story and not Hawke's.

Cameos for the sake of cameos are just like putting in a boss fight because "we need a boss fight". I've seen how those boss fights worked out, not very well.
You should only put these kinds of things in, if you have a great idea and know how to implement them well. Not shoehorning them in for the sake of doing them.

Said on numerous threads that Hawke should only return to be maimed, tortured or slaughtered - his story was so boring why would we want it to continue?

I would like to see them just stack up on mayor characters during the course of the next couple of games, so one day, maybe in DA5/6/7...they can bring them all back at once along with 2 or 3 of our favorite companions as some kind of super duper team when the storyarc comes to a close.

I was always wondering why every character gets attached a nickname

DA:O "The Hero of Ferelden/The Warden"
DA2 "The Champion (of Kirkwall)"
DA3 "The Inquisitor" "The Seeker"

is this a simple way for refferencing them in the game or is there a bigger plan?! ;P

It's not an absolute must to see them appear though I am curious as to why both the Warden and Hawke have vanished as was said at the end of DAII.

Doubt either will play a large role, more likely an appearance with a small role. Their journeys have ended so that suits me fine.

I would have preferred to not have back my Warden (Hawke I don't care...she can be whatever she want, as long as I don't have to see her ever again) but with the implication something happened to her, well, now I want to know! why she disappeared? she didin't go with Morrigan, so what happened to her?
