So I'm going through my campaign, I'm an elf warrior, but I decide he's too small. So I start two more games. One, I name my Warden Anton. Nothing to worry about, and I complete my origin story. I start a second campaign, so I can run through different paths and make different choices. I decide upon the name James (cause it's just an awesome name.) I enter the name and hit start. On the next screen (appearence customization,) though, he's listed as Aedan Cousland. WHAT?! I start thinking, maybe I missed something, maybe I hit start and only thought I entered the name. So, I go at it again. New game, male warrior, yadda yadda. I take point, I focus. J - A - M - E - S. Start. WHAT THE HELL, HE'S STILL NAMED AEDAN?! WHY?! This is really bugging me, I just can't keep playing the game. I'm a stickler for this sort of thing, and I'm very bad at naming characters. Why can't I call him James? Has anyone else had this problem?

This happened to me on the 360 as well, and only with the Noble origin if I tried to name them before customizing the appearance.Try making your character's face, setting his voice/portrait, and rename him to James last, on the actual customize appearance screen. That worked for me.

How do I rename him on the appearance screen?

It's one of the listed options at the bottom of the screen. Is it "X"?  I don't remember the button.

It's funny, I went to do what you had suggested, but it accepted the name first try. I guess it was feeling generous then, eh?

I had this same problem the first time I played.

One of the smaller problems with this game. But happened here also. Same sometimes when trying to name the dog. But who cares. Just delete your savegame to speak with EA's word. After doing so you have a new try.
