I have been putitng my own placeable 2da together for the mod I am making.
I ahve not done it properly and rather than putting all the blank lines in I simply jump from say line 4000 to 7000.
It works, there is no problem with that but I cannot add anything without borking the other items.
I want to use the rws 2da as a basis for creating a new 2da adding the new material but i don't want to bork my build.
Soooo ... does a refence to the 2da look for the line mumber or location. i.e. if I move the items in the 2da table and keep the same line number will it find an item by line number or will it look at the same location and pick up the wrong blueprint.

I answered this myself with a litttle test. the number is irrelvant it simply gives a guide to place items. The location is the critical thing.
Thus I can do nothing with my botched 2da except add things on the back end If I choose to. For my next project I am going to get this sorted out from the start.

I'd strongly recommend using kanbyen's placeable.2da from the vault. It's complete, or very nearly so, and goes by the reserved ranged in the 2da as recorded in the nwn2 wiki. Just like the master appearance 2da, you'll save yourself a lot of work.

I did think to do that but then decided to make my own as a learning exercise. I now have so many placeables based on wrong locations that going back and fixing it would be a mare.
I can still add more if I want but I have the GPS trinity set and some other bits and bobs. Enough to keep the areas fresh looking.
Is there a master appearance 2da? I have used pains but that misses out on many bits that I want in such as Jesters clothes and the greenwood clothing set.
