I hope DA3 doesnt contain TOO much Skyrim. It has almost no story backbone at all, besides the "kill that dragon" and "blow that up with your voice" quests. I prefer games that are heavily story oriented, like The Witcher 1 and 2. DAO was closer to those two than an open world game anyway. Why would BW choose to go towards less story and more open world instead of the other way around? TW2 feels more like a dragon age game than Skyrim ever did. Besides, half the point of Skyrim is modding... and it has been said that we wont be able to mod the game.
So... is there a benefit to picking Skyrim over TW2 that I am not seeing?

They're taking INSPIRATION from Skyrim not remaking it.

My guess would be because if you are going to try to be like a game, you would want to try to be like the one that sold more. I doubt it will be to much like Skyrim, and I think it is just more for marketing then anything else.
Did TW2 outsale DA2?

What is TW2? Two Worlds 2 or The Witcher 2? The former no, the latter yes, because many people like the first game and CDPR has an high reputation.

Yes, but the inspiration is what? Skyrim is pretty hollow unless they want to copy the game mechanics. The only thing besides that is story (lol) and open world-ness.

I think that pretty much sums up the inspiration: open world and exploration. They kind of worked that open expanse business to the bone.

Most of skyrim stank. The story was weak, the progression was so watered down from previous game, the guilds felt slapped on and the crafting was broken.
But housing and exploration made Skyrim. If they could just replicate those and slot them into the DA universe and forget about everything else.
