Whenever these things happen, people look to something to blame, Blame the Video Games, Blame the Guns.
This has all happened before.
So I see nothing different in this reaction. It's not like Fox hasn't already attacked Mass Effect before.
For the event itself, pretty messed up. Not only because this guy killed children, but because he shot his mom too.
Yup, you're right, but you're missing the other half of the issue.
Our senior citizens, which currently outnumber each other generation by about 2:1, love these stories. They've been eating them up for decades.
-Oh no! Ozzy is satanic! His music makes kids kill people!
-Oh no! Dungeons and Dragons is satanic! The game makes kids kill people!
-On no! The Smurfs are satanic! They drive children insane! (yes, in the 80's, this really was a thing)
-On no! Video Games are evil! They make our kids kill people!
The media runs these things because that's what our senior citizens want to see. So everytime there's a shooting, they go dig up some video game to blame it on, hoping it gets them some extra viewers.
